Something big is coming this fall. Too many signs for there not to be.

Verizon has had 10% RIFs, each year, every year, since 2008, some years more. The retirement changes caused some groups to lose up to 60%, voluntarily. Every manager, every employee, in nearly every group is fully up to speed on dealing with change, actually, that's our motto.

Even the Frontier folks moving in 1st quarter 2016, happened before, nothing new.

Now, once the new union contract is signed, assuming those rumors have any merit. VZ divesting itself of all wireline assets could be a driving factor of a lot of extra meetings.

Anonymous176421 - if they give you an 8 weeks of severance (60 days) they do not have to WARN it. That's how most of companies work around this rule. Basically, they will let you go, keep you on payroll but not working for 60 days and that's it. Just look for WARN and Severance on this site you'll see that many folks working for other companies describe this

Google

WARN Notification Texas or what ever state you're in, it's in Excel format, if they're RIFing more that 500 "can be less, depending" at a single location, they have to post it to WARN. Once that happens it's on all the news sites. They have to notify WARN a minimum of 60 days prior, that would mean nothing big until December 12th 2015.

This is why many companies trickle their constrictions, yet they still have to adhere to WARN guidelines so it still can't be a whole lot.

...yet tons of internal job openings posted, when those dry up, then you can start worrying.

Agreed. I have been here 18 years and have never seen the likes of this. Management in closed door meetings all week. HR giving mandatory "dealing with change" webinars.

= mass layoffs
