The United Nations said Wednesday it expressed concern to AT&T about a report that the telecom giant allowed the United States to wiretap all Internet communications at U.N. headquarters.
The world body also announced bidding for new communications contracts in the coming months.
Vannina Maestracci, a U.N. spokeswoman, told reporters that discussions with AT&T on the reported wiretapping would continue "over the coming months."
As read the times today, at&t, In completing his company's $49-billion acquisition of DirecTV last month, AT&T Chief Executive Randall Stephenson said it was "all about giving customers more choices."
He meant entertainment and service choices, but he could just as easily have been referring to the myriad of decisions customers will encounter if they seek to protect their privacy.
Instead of using the DirecTV deal as an opportunity to simplify its privacy policy, AT&T has created a more challenging process for opting out of marketing pitches from the company and its partners and for escaping AT&T's watchful gaze as you traverse the Internet, this is a very serious step from a company that had made billions off US consumers, and the NSA, it's quite troubling
There is actually a whole philosophy behind it and not just some random happening; it's call Corporatism, mostly known as Fascism to those who are familiar with it. You are dealing with a Corporation who is in collusion with the Government; they are one in the same.
I suggest you focus your attention to the Government, because without it, ATT would not have the power it has today.
And I sadly help build it, but I cannot feel too bad because the majority of you demand these tracking devices, yet continue to acted surprised. ATT owns the architecture and you only rent it and therefore enter into a contract to be watched. The web is not free, it is owned and is the private property of somebody. When you use the services, you better accept it. The only way to fight them is to not use it, but the majority of you do not have the huevos to do it. You deserve what you get.
