Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Severe Reorganization

Our organization has a reorg call. What was read was a scripted letter explaining the reorganization and why. This org ended up combining groups and creating at least one, to eliminate overlap and supposedly create efficiency. This means some people will have new job functions and/or be on new teams going forward, and to be implemented immediately. It was stated that they will monitor 'efficiency',whatever that means, and make adjustments e.g. movements or elimination as they go. This was an Org not impacted by the 10% haircut in C still towing the company line and vomiting false company propaganda.

Interesting because Construction and Engineering is supposedly one of the groups that is to shed 10% of management according to various folks. C&E is a large organization though so I guess some groups are affected more than others. I know that Carlos Munoz, a Level 4 in C&E left payroll fairly recently and that a lot of shuffling has been going on there at the Executive level.

I second the motion asking what group went through this reorganization. No one is talking about which groups are impacted by these headcount reductions and who isn't. It's frustrating for those of us that want to get ahead of the curve by being proactive in searching for and applying for open requisitions that are out there. My group in TP&E announced that they would put requisitions out for a few critical positions vacated by folks that took the EPO severance at the beginning of the year. A few weeks later the surplus was announced creating a vacuum of confusion. The aura of secrecy associated with this process is maddening.

Ma bell has been management top heavy since I've been here (16 years). Craft has been slaughtered since T bought BellSouth. Too many "technical specialists" and middle management types. Oh, I'm sure there will be another round of craft layoffs after this as well. But Randall will make his 25 million a year either way.
