AT&T's War on Admins

It looks like nearly all of the ATO admins will be let go and off payroll by end of September. Apparently the best way to cut costs is to get rid of the lowest paid workers!?!? Makes perfect sense.

This is in reference of the post Anonymous114305 .. I was under the impression that bargained employees would not be in this layoff (because of the union, we were told that no more than 500 bargained employees could be laid off this year). Please elaborate on your post. Also, is this layoff for Sept 29 only managers?

all the admins that I know of who are being let go are 1A or 1B managers. Not bargained for.

Admins in terms of bargained employees right? Waves of upcoming layoffs of bargained for employees are being prepped by HR as well. I'm not yet privy to the details but the templates are being drawn. Hundreds of mostly Level 2's and a handful above that have dropped from payroll since late June. Lots of Level 1's as well but can't remember the ballpark figure I was given. Birds on the wire.

One of the most basic themes in ethics is fairness, stated this way by Artistotle: "Equals should be treated equally and unequals unequally." Favoritism, cronyism, and nepotism all interfere with fairness because they give undue advantage to someone who does not necessarily merit this treatment.

At AT&T, favoritism, cronyism, and nepotism also undermine the common good. When someone is granted a position because of connections rather than because he or she has the best credentials and experience, the service that person renders to the public may be inferior, that is the reasoning of the current leadership structure, which holds true at his company,
