I moved from NY last year and was hired by at&t in December of last year as a coll rep. Could my job be in danger?

Economist Joseph Schumpeter, who coined the term “creative destruction,” should be read by everybody. Many old jobs that paid solid wages are gone, and a “hiring down” process is being imitated in cities around the country. It wasn’t long ago when tens of thousands of union autoworkers were getting huge pensions and earning $87 an hour. In the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, AT&T, Monsanto, DuPont, Procter & Gamble and U.S. Steel employed tens of thousands of secretaries. Like sheep, they flocked to their desks at 8:30 a.m., lunched between 12:00 and 12:30, and at 5:00 gathered their purses and herded home. They were the middle class, with a house with a picket fence, a recent-model car, a retirement plan and schools with PTAs. They were replaced by robots.
Call center/ Telco offload teams that support PCG, are experiencing cuts, due to the 2020 vision, Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, and others, we have hundreds of telco reps which jobs are in jeopardy in the next 4 years, as the company moves to IP platfform.
With AT&T there's always chance they could be looking to shed jobs. And as the previous reply stated call centers are a favorite target of AT&T. That being said, I don't believe any call centers were included in the most recent announcement.
So take that information for what it's worth.
Yep, they have been for many years. Mainly call centers. Many customers don’t like being transferred to India or Pakistan. That’s why AT&T has been relocating call centers to eastern Europe.
Bringing in foreign workers whose purpose is to lower costs won’t end well. And I ain’t known as a protectionist.
