"The first phase of the plan would start by asking residents to voluntarily disconnect existing landline service in favor of either U-verse VoIP service or a wireless landline replacement that works with AT&T’s cellular network. In the next phase of the experiment, traditional copper-based landline service would be dropped altogether as AT&T and the FCC study the impact."

So which is it? The company is going to drop all wireline and Uverse services or they are going to switch copper to Uverse VOIP? From one post to the next it changes.
Either we have a bunch of chicken littles falsely proclaiming the sky is falling for wireline or we have a bunch of folks with their head in the clouds thinking uverse isn't going away. Both can't be right.
You can se habla all you want if you are U.S. citizen you will cost too much!! No dinero para tu! Look up TPP in you crystal ball.

Don't think this is a conspiracy or secret. Copper network is going away and the company is targeting 2020 to do it. If you plan to support copper networks for more than the next few years, rethink the plan or retire early. On the other hand, at&t just went to 50 states of tv and broadband so there are also opportunities. Network and figure out where longer term jobs will be. Se habla espanol? If no, you should.
