Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Texas and Florida Call Centers.

I know many depts were cut on 7/31. Me being one of them, I'm so angry right now. I was a high FAR EXCEEDS performer and I was given my notice. Does anyone know if accepting your severance (in Texas) affect unemployment benefits? I'm a single mother and I need to keep food on the table and a roof over our head. Husband is deceased. I will keep you all in my prayers...

You'd have to check your state law to be sure but for the states I've lived in severance has no bearing on drawing unemployment if I were you I'd go ahead and fill out whatever paperwork is needed for your state. I know where I live now it takes close to a month to start getting payments.

Ratings does not mean anything at ATT, More than 69% of managers are clueless about the job they overseed reports, Have you noticed that the more your pathways and responsibilities cross with the workplace slackers, the more your resentment and ire builds? Frustration. Disbelief that management isn’t doing anything about the slacker’s poor performance. Anger with the unfairness. I’ve been smack dab in the same place, pretty much wanting to take down any loafing slacker. (And in my fantasy life, I think I could.) And yet, we can’t. Managers, myself included, aren’t always comfortable managing slackers. They have evolve to pretend they give 100%, they are clever and know how to work the ATT system, Some managers don’t like confrontation and they know that, They don’t want to see someone lose a job. They don’t want to embark on the trail of documentation toward firing. They want to be liked. They don’t want to expend energy with contentious feelings, day in and day out. Sometimes, it’s just easier to look the other way. We all know slackers that even get promoted, to make them someone else’s problem. No matter how much the under-performing worker affects other staff members and the organization, slackers remain with us, about 50% in our unit.

Which call center were you laid off from? Texas or Florida? Also, are you management?
