They're not actually training people in anything...where is the JavaScript training? Agile development training? All they do is make everyone take those generic technology pivot classes that are just a survey of stuff that could happen. Meanwhile things like the Udacity training cost just as much if you're not working for AT&T.

Agreed. 2020 training is a pack of BS!!! They just string you along making you think you have an opportunity and the like. The Udacity nanodegrees was a ploy too.
Folks, the chances of keeping your wireline job are numbered and looking elsewhere is your only hope. The outrageous propaganda of ATT as of late is sickening! It isnice to see folks on here are awake to these facts.

Anonymous128148, how do you mean the classes are high level? I took the same classes, but I have an electrical engineering degree and came to AT&T with over 10 years of programming experience and found the classes to be very lacking. They didn't seem to me to really teach anything or give hands on work...they were mostly survey classes about what AT&T's philosophy was or the broken way AT&T troubleshoots (reset server, replace card, replace entire server....I would fight like mad with ATS on that and would show them how often things could be fixed in Unix.)
I had 20 years of experience (1/2 my life there), took all training and classes suggested, received certifications, had a far exceeds performance rating last 5 years, received the key contributor award last 5 years and was tossed to the curb....all that hard work and dedication got me nowhere. Ratings are not considered during layoffs at AT&T....no one is safe there.
Same here. I took every class that was suggested and was working on the Udacity nano degree. Did everything they asked. Now, after working for AT&T for 1/3 of my life and just a few years short of retiring, they toss me to the curb like a bag of garbage.
I did a lot of training for solution engineer and technical lead and most of the free courses that AT&T is offering are very high level.
I totally agree! How do you prepare for 2020 when they cannot even tell you what the plan is. I was laid off earlier this year. I thought I was preparing for 2020. I took all classes/training my executive director suggested. Received Certifications suggested and was still let go....didn't help me at all.
