Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Doomsayers need to chill out

There will be some layoffs as a result of this merger. But the majority will stay. One only has to do some research to know the answers to some of the questions posted here.

So the problem here is context. This is a portion of a comment I made in a previous thread regarding the company supposedly getting rid of uverse techs. It was never meant to apply across the board. And I'm not sure how just this part ended up as the beginning of a new thread unless someone copied and pasted it separately.

The company is changing and they are giving quite a bit of information about those changes (though not as much as we would all like). And you are correct, everyone should be preparing.

And since you made the troll comment, it's you're, not your. "If YOU'RE not preparing, YOU'RE an idiot." :)

Get you head out of the sand, or the clouds. Seeing and knowing trends does not make folks doomsayers, its folks actually being concerned. The company is preparing for a change and they are telegraphing it. If your not preparing, your an idiot.

Sounds like a comment from a Troll who works for ATT anyway.

I agree with what you're saying. And a number of people have reason to be concerned but the "AT&T is getting rid of wireline" crowd has been saying the same junk for many years. At some point it just gets old. Especially when our leadership has laid out their plans for upgrading the wireline network, not selling it off. One of the merger conditions was adding nearly 12 million more fiber connections.

I think this site is great for folks in different areas to come together and compare notes so to speak, but enough is enough with rumor about wireline going away.

You can be in the heart of the maelstrom and still be blind to the carnage all around as you toil away diligently at your tasks, at least until you are tapped on the shoulder. Good for you if you escape the current purge, don't mistakenly believe it will be the last. Your talents, capabilities and achievements mean nothing when the redundancy and synergy chainsaw slices through your organizational hierarchy. Good luck tovarisch, but don't pooh-pooh the justified fears of people who work for a living.
