Anyone with a -2 on their PMP the last three years will get a letter or an email Tuesday. Does anyone know anything about this? Then you will hear if you're cut August 11th? If you get one of these letters are you gone for sure? Seems unfair that other years I have had good PMP's, but last year got a -2 and now I'm gone? Anybody know anything?

MCBU delayed notification until next week.
Hearing today that office folks got an email, offshore people got a letter. Also heard some of the older guys saying that you could volunteer to take a 2- and if you were close enough to retirement they would give you a year and a half of severance pay.
Any word on CNAEP offshore employees?

I am in CNAEP Land and was notified today that if you have received a 2- or 3 in the last 3 years then you are under scope for review. Decisions will be made between HR and management with no outside consultants being involved. You will be assessed on 3 things, your core competency and ability to do your job, exhibiting the Chevron Way and one other thing that I can't remember. If you are not deemed as being proficient at all of these things then you're out. It sounds like it's up to your manager to vouch for you which could be good or bad. Within two weeks you will know the results. I'm not completely clear on this but I was told that if you are laid off, that will be your last day but you will stay on payroll for 6 weeks and also get your severance pay in addition to that. Also, if you are under scope then you cannot post for jobs that were just announced for the Fall PDC.
To the original poster, this notice from HR going out to 2- and 3s are only for CNAEP. It's not for TP&S
I've been with Chevron for 28 years, gone through 3 major reorganizations, transferred out of state one time and been promoted twice within my job. I never received a bad PMP rating (mostly 2, but sometimes a 2+). I'm not an engineer and consider myself an average employee. My attendance record is very good with only 4 sick days in all my time with the company. So, I'm surprised to hear of so many 2- and 3 rated employees all of a sudden.
I've also heard that an astonishing number of engineers have received negative rankings over petty, stupid nonsense like the typical busywork HES stuff that is completely pointless in an office environment, but I digress. These are people who have made significant intellectual contributions here.
I have sat through the PMP rankings since they started. THEY ARE BROKE. There is forced rankings....somebody has to be a -2 and some managers would round robin the dam rankings. Well I think it's your year to get a -2. As always Chevron is not clear on basis for these PMP rankings. No ground rules. So it becomes who you know and who you blow and if your manager is a pussy. We had two BRILLIANT engineers with -2 ranking this year. Their productivity and team mentality was beyond anything in Chevron. They were a threat and got f***ed. 10% -2...so give it to the guys that may take my job in this harsh environment...if they are gone they can't take my job!
Anonymous124482, you are mostly correct in what you say; that employees with long-term leads are benefited the most in the PMP and PASA ranking systems. Employees will benefit even more when represented by a team lead or manager that is vocal, prepared, and commands respect from his/her counterparts in those sessions. I am shocked, though, of how many posts I've been reading throughout this forum on employees with -2 and 3 ratings. I had no idea we had so many that rank below the average "2". Now, why these folks with consecutive below average ratings are still around is puzzling to me. Trust me when I say though, I know of several people (engineers and other professionals) that have received a -2 for their 2014 performance, and honestly didn't deserve it at all. The whole process is open to questions as to why things turn out the way they do.
I wouldn't contact HR. Only as an absolute last resort. You will fuel a shit storm and burn bridges - whether or not they are ones you care to cross.
The current PMP ranking system and PASA ranking sessions only benefits employees with long-term team leads. Those with new or even worse, new first-time team leads are at a serious disadvantage in the process due to their team leads inexperience in the PASA sessions. You want a wolf in those sessions, a wolf that you can be sure will have your back when the other team leads try to elevate their own reports by throwing your team under the bus.
Even worse is when you've been in a position for awhile and then express interest a PDP position, which your TL is not too happy about. Imagine your shock earlier this year when you get your results and she ranked you a 2- for the year! Now I'm concerned that this complete BS ranking will be factored into the ROM. Any suggestions on what I should expect if I contact HR about this?
I know of person in the same situation. Row of threes and maybe a 2- and has made it through two of these...
This may or may not be true. Only time will tell. I know of one person who had multiple bad rankings 3 years in a row. The person had at a minimum -2s and maybe a 3. This person actually made it through the 2010 & 2014 ROMS as well as other events in between. Not sure how.
Damn just three more years. Sorry to hear that. And I think I'll last another ten....

Take as many certifications and licensing exam you can pass. This will be part of your "safety net" to stay competitive and get a new job.The reality is, Lay Offs is a Chevron Way to value it's employees' loyalty! I've been there & done that! Nobody will care for you especially your family except yourself! My supervisor said I am going to get a promotion having got an EXCEEDS rating on my PMP. Guess what, the entire group, including my supervisor got pink slip in the 2004 layoffs! During that time, I only need 3 years to be fully vested with a Chevron pension, having worked for 17 years!

I got a -2 on my last PMP but I have never got that before, I also went through the PIP part also and passed with flying colors. I do hope they look back on passed PMPs, and for you people that want to say I did a poor job... Wrong, I got the -2 because I missed a BBS in one quarter but I did 16 for the year. But if I am one of the people let go I have have a good time working for this company and wish the best for you all. It is going to be hard times in the patch for the next few years. For the people let go find a new path and stay safe. May God watch over you all.

I agree, let's discuss the topic at hand. I heard from HR, the policy in these ROM cases has been to give 6 weeks written notice if you are an employee to be "left standing" without a job in Chevron. If July 28 is that date to receive that notice, then it means you need to prepare your things because around mid August, you will be out. Do others have the same understanding? Please share?

First, BCG is not in control, Chevron is.
Also, no class is totally protected. Layoffs will happen to all classes across the board (majorities, minorities, over 40s, women, all of 'em) as long as the result is proportionate to the workforce. The reality is that there will be future rounds where solid 2's are not going to compete for the limited seats so the 2- and 3s certainly won't either.

Is this all related to the email from a couple of weeks ago that explained that a small population of employees with sustained poor performance in MCBU would be laid off outside of the Project Alpha changes?
HR has also been seeking out whether you're trending to be 2- or 3 this year. That's what your interim PMPs have been for.
