2020 is the number of employees left!
Mobility Layoff notices were given today for department .
So how many is 5%? Are they talking nationwide or internationally?
It was handled poorly all the way around. First they put all these folks on calls telling them they are in a group that will experience surpluses but they won't say which ones specifically so thousands are needlessly worried right now. Then they follow the layoff announcements with the $3 billion Mexico investment announcement. "We don't have money to pay our people but we can spend billions in Mexico." Just all around poor execution by the company.
I just dont like the way ATT announces this, no one is feeling secured and everyone is frustrated because you never know who gonna be next for this bullshit layoff. They just decrease the productivity of their employees and nothing else. I wasn't expecting this from the comapny like ATT.
How do we know? It was internally communicated on hastily planned "all hands" calls by AVPs.
2020 is subtext here. Though running lean(er) positions ATT to be a more profitable company for a software centric model. Writing was on the wall a few years ago. First with the restructuring of the bonus package from 12% to 10% baseline and merit at the top 70%. The early retirement packages, which weren't taken by nearly enough retirement age people. Increase pressure on cycle time for legacy equipment turn down with increased network risk. Writing has been on the wall.
TP&E is transport, planning and engineering. and its true first notice july 31, second on august 31 and final on september 29. Management only, cutting jobs to stream line for 2020 vision. its nationwide.
How do you know
not just engineering, IP OPS as well. Off payroll on 9/29
management only
This is true. The Mobility side: involuntary, notices out by July with termination date in September. 5%
