Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Unionisation is the only way

Unionise, unionise, unionise, it’s the only way.
Big corporations have fed us cr-p for decades about the big bad unions, purely to make it easier to exploit their workers.

Look at the Boeing engineers, they made a plan to build savings and schedule a strike. They ended up with a great deal. You can’t organise something like that without the help of a union. There are literally zero downsides to collective bargaining unless you’re happy to continue being exploited and undervalued.

They’ve pushed us into this, we need to make it happen.

What is the point of saying it won't happen? What's the point in trying to stop it or be a downer? Even if you're too scared to do it, and we do the hard work and it fails, then we're the ones who get laid off and your job is safer :)

Ok history lesion look at history unions like auto workers have pushed their jobs to Mexico. Today they only enrich union leadership. Keep it up your job is on its way to India.

Stage an organized sick out as I have advocated for years insure its covered by the media to get out the message. But even this is a hail marry.

Unions are never going to work here; it's too late anyway. Yes, grow up coming from someone who WAS RIFED by Frank and KKR.

I've tried pushing this a couple of times, even got in touch with a union organizer, but everyone is too afraid to step forward off of this site. Organizer said I'd have to get about 30 people to even get started. They'd have to commit to signing their name to show their interest.

Frank has us all too terrified to get this rolling here in the US.

@2jtj+1vuO5aCE your post only makes the point worse. It is mega backwards for a technology company. Low pay, out of date tools, nasty backwards IT software, over worked, no standards for knowing technology well, badge reports, monitoring, bad quality, long hours and even worse quality, short staff, etc.

You guys need to stop thinking of Fiserv, as a Financial Services company. Fiserv, isn't providing financial services to anyone (maybe some exceptions like Clover). Fiserv, is a technology company.

things will get better with Trump in because the economy and fake job numbers is the problem. Fiserv attracts anyone with ridge lines on their brain only when there are no other choices. But there should still be unionization because of the insane policies and things going on that are just regressive, and especially for a publicly traded fintech company that handles so many transactions. It is at the expense not only of the workers here now but on society because this is being run like a ponzi scheme.

To the person who says it won't happen and to grow up: you are confusing growing up with growing stale and deserve better. The Stockholm Syndrome is exactly why we get these morale issues, under market pay and benefits compared to any of finance, and regressive BS. You grow up.

The first rule of unionisation is never talk about the U word in the office.

Firstly, find out if there’s already a larger financial services union in your area (I’m not in the states so I can’t point to anything in particular, but the CWA might be a good place to start. I’m already hard at work across the pond trying to make this happen). The most important thing is to find a union organiser.

Secondly, set up drinks/lunch with your team (outside the office, can’t stress this part enough!) or anyone else you think is as pi---d off with the lack of respect shown by Frank and the boys as you are, and float the idea there.

Gather numbers and talk to your organiser. With enough buy in, it’ll snowball from there and we can actually have our voices heard.
By the way, things aren’t going to get better with Trump in office, so no time better than the present.

Right on. Not to mention the CEO makes 7 figures, has a helicopter pad for his own use alone and doesnt give wages that keep up with quality of life increases. On top of the recent issues with the regressive work culture and unprofessional work environment.

Unions are very rare in finance but have started popping up in US banks for the first time in 40 years only in 2021. I think seriously at this rate with the decline in employee productivity, work satisfaction, and being paid well below industry standard that Fiserv employees can lead the way! We should keep this thread alive and keep sharing this.

I agree that unions are sh-t. But at the same time, what do you call working at Fiserv?

@oqu… Why are unions sh-t? Do you honestly think you’d have a better chance negotiating better conditions by yourself?

Also Boeing hasn’t laid people off because of the unions. They laid people off because they treated their employees terribly for years and ran the company into the ground.
They’re haemorrhaging money. Fiserv aren’t.
Fiserv are
