What does CWA want?
What does Stankey want?
What are neither of them budging on?

OP here. So, which post is right?
CWA wants more.
Stankey wants to give them less.
Apparently the healthcare is the biggest sticking point, and apparently the one neither really wants to budge on, and the sides are so far apart on it that even a budge by both isn't getting them very close. I don't think it's wages so much, because the company came up some, but it's still not enough for the CWA. The company may come up a little more as they look like they are willing to wiggle. I don't think the CWA wants anything less than 5% a year plus a bonus pop of 10% for some, and that's probably a little too optimistic.
OP here. So, which post is right?
CWA is a follower, not leader.
Always followed UAW.
They had a long strike, now CWA will follow that example.
Only the new hires for the Big 3 got the pooch at the other end.
Last hired, first fired.
How soon before Prem Tech title is gone after the contract is signed?
The company will eventually throw some crumbs at the rank and file and the strike will end. In the meantime the company is saving mega bucks on wages.
“Customers are always sympathetic to one side or the other and will delay most new
service or repair requests until the striking workers are back at work, it does not
matter which side the customers are sympathetic to, same outcome.”
Hmmm…nah. As a customer, I would see this as a dysfunctional company full of drama. I would be concerned that their drama would become my drama. I would avoid this company and take my business elsewhere.
IDK that they're faking it, and it seems tinfoil-hattish to believe this is all pre-determined. Though I know techs in some areas said there were actually not a lot of tickets to even work right before the strike. The public sympathy seems to be skewed to the union right now, but that may quickly change if a hurricane hits and the union doesn't at least pause the ULP.
Very basic explanation is:
Wait was I supposed to remember the useless CP training I received? I am sc--wed.
So, Ukraine is a country in Europe," Harris explains while speaking slowly. “It exists next to another country called Russia,” she continued. “Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically, that’s wrong, and it goes against everything that we stand for
They picked a fight with the largest district (3) by employee numbers, to try and get the rest in line if their strategy was successful. It’s failed miserably and has only emboldened the union and other districts to fight back against all the regressive proposals. They have also pi---d off other office management because they are being forced to work assignments that they have little to no clue how to work. The CP training is laughable unless you have already held the title before, it’s useless as Stankey as CEO.
AT&T recently bargained with DTV in district 3 for lower Healthcare, and wage increases They received their TA relatively quickly, still trying to figure that one out.
Far fewer employees, and AT&T wanted to make the DTV unit look more attractive for a buyer since they could start shopping, and could have sold as early as August if they'd lined up a sale.
It was also a different CWA bargaining team. I still personally think there is someone on the CWAD3 team that has really pi---d off the company. Negotiations have been contentious since Day 1, and that doesn't appear to be the case elsewhere.
"Because CWA leadership believes they can argue for wage increases and healthcare cost decreases. Sorry. Doesn’t work that way in the real world. Everyone has increased healthcare costs each year. Doesn’t matter if you union, non union, privately insured, small business owner."
Not true, AT&T recently bargained with DTV in district 3 for lower Healthcare, and wage increases They received their TA relatively quickly, still trying to figure that one out.
Daddy John and his close friends keep all the money and only gives a small allowance to their kids. Their kids have to stay late at daycare everyday and can only see their mommies for a short time at nite before going to bed. It takes a long time to save enough money for an ice cream cone.
“Explain like I'm five - Why are T and CWA apart?”
Clown John says because the density of contractors is increasing while the density of my hair is not. And If I am forced to abandon my dream of becoming an Elvis impersonator then CWA must also share the feeling of some sort of anguish.
Wire techs are the majority now(if you break up some of the multi-sub job titles like FT/DT/ET)
Aren’t a large chunk of us striking over wire techs? CWA never cared too much about them until now. Guess their membership was declining and they needed a new influx of cash.
“Despite 40k in wage increases per employee across the contract, CWA refuses to bear any costs of healthcare which is high for everyone in this country.
The days of zero cost healthcare are gone. It’s time to face the realities.”
We’ve been paying on healthcare for years now. When leadership tells us how good we’re doing and making them millions & billions to give to shareholders, c-suits, & play money to blow on multi million dollar failed mergers, they should also have money to not increase healthcare costs for their employees. T’s smoke show of their pay raise proposals while not being forthcoming about the actual healthcare cost increase is exactly that. A smoke show.
“Mobility here…I just hope Att can figure out how to offload the telephone side. I’m tired of going down with their ship. What’s worse, their mgmt is slowing moving over here and taking their culture along. It really su-ks.”
You mean last place Mobility? Y’all should be hiring because your service $u-k$. T makes no secret about the copper network, if they could wave a magic wand & make it go away they would’ve done it a long time ago. If T could offload the copper plant they would but nobody in their right mind will buy it. The fiber network is highly profitable with all of the residential grade Uverse services and the high dollar ASE circuits(especially for VZW & TMOB since they have so many more cell towers & better coverage than mobility).
Because CWA leadership believes they can argue for wage increases and healthcare cost decreases. Sorry. Doesn’t work that way in the real world. Everyone has increased healthcare costs each year. Doesn’t matter if you union, non union, privately insured, small business owner.
lots of these old heads dont understand this post. cant wait till they are laid off. most of them get one simple task done and get paid thousands.
basically, cwa doesnt wanna work and want more money for what they do.

If you didn't block it out then it's similar to your Daddy and your Momma when they divorced but then hooked up on the weekends for fun times. Just to use each other for personal pleasures. They overlooked the mild abuse that took place because it benefited both of them but then the arrangement became unsustainable . The mild abuse became domineering and perverted and CWA said no more. Stankey pitched a fit and demanded everyone follow his lead. Then he called his children nasty names and they, being old enough and independent enough told him to GFH and they left the house. They camp outside and throw virtual rocks at Stankey and really dislike him. Your not old enough to fully understand but his family has no use for him anymore, think how you would feel if you saw me abusing your sister. Stankey's friends call it a family. One day you will understand what in---t is. I have to go now, there is a big bad hurricane on its way to cause devastation to Stankey's world. See ya at your 6th birthday.
CWA got rea' mad' 'cause the meanie T did not wanna share cookies. T said CWA always asking for ice creeam so they no need mo' cookies to eat with 'cause the poopy-head CWA not hangry.

"CWA simply wants a contract that is somewhat reflects the quarterly prosperity reports"
The offer by the Company does somewhat reflect the quarterly reports, just not to the degree you would like. You call this unfair bargaining. There, fixed it for you.“
When the “pay raise” is consumed by the healthcare costs increase then yeah, I don’t like it but it has nothing to do with the actual ULP charge. Might want to read up on what a ULP charge actually is. Google is your friend. There, fixed it for you.

CWA wants T to send qualified versed representatives to the bargaining table who are authorized to make decisions & educated about the contract enough to properly answer contract/bargaining related questions.
Stank wants to offshore every single position he can, force managers to a hub halfway across the country so they’ll quit & then lay off as many of them that do move, and he wants outside/network laborers to pay him to come and work at T. He also probably has his eye on another multi billion dollar merger blunder.
Best I can tell, T has made only 1 offer, which they are calling their final offer. While it touts a nice pay increase, the healthcare & prescription coverage will eat up most of the wage advancements.
CWA simply wants a contract that is somewhat reflects the quarterly prosperity reports that the C suite sends telling its workers how many millions & millions of profits they made & how they couldn’t have done it without them.
Stankey needs a Hairclub for men membership.
The CWA officers need a big raise

First to fail to answer the question? I'm sure it won't your last.
super high healthcare cost
It's the same program non-bargained have. Also, it's a lot lower than other companies, marketplace plans, or COBRA. Last year, I was floored when a friend told me his premiums were $1100/mo. High deductible plans are what the market has gone towards. It has an emphasis on preventative care and the healthier you are, the less it will cost you. I sure hope some of the people complaining aren't the same ones I've seen smoking on the picket line. Bad look, and it costs you more, BTW, in addition to being super unhealthy.
Explain like I'm five
Don't worry kid. Enjoy your childhood and let the adults figure it out.
Same Stankey channel, same Stankey time.
Stank wants less workers fir less pay. Cwa wants more workers for mire pay.
The is no stopping the Stank train!
“Feel that Stank getting stronger!”
His strength grows as he consumes employee souls, and drinks their misery like some kind of gluttonous demon bent on destruction.
Feel that Stank getting stronger!
