Why must corporate culture be this toxic?

One can lay off people without humiliating them, or manage teams without behaving like an a--hole. Companies can function better if people cooperate instead of leadership promoting backstabbing culture. It can all be done rationally, without drama and with respect for people’s lives, achievements and professional competence. I guess such culture and power play are designed to make us powerless while shielding top and mid-management from responsibility and consequences of their actions and incompetence. In any case it all su-ks.

AskATT to the rescue

Theory says, if you think leadership is to blame, there are 4 ways to state your case. I like Conway's Law. If ATT employees and CWA are posting garbage hateful comments at each other, it means leadership is doing it too. Maybe leadership is here doing it. Imagine that.

Conway's Law
This theory states that organizations will design systems that mirror their communication structure. This can happen subconsciously, and each employee will leave their mark on any project they work on. While this can lead to unique results, it may not always produce the intended outcomes.

The Management Mirror Theory
This theory states that the self-esteem, teamwork ethic, and productivity of employees in an organization are usually a reflection of the quality of management.

The Shadow of the Leader
This business phenomenon describes how people in positions of authority can influence the culture of those around them through their organizational habits, beliefs, and values. This influence can be good or bad.

The Leadership Mirror Effect
This theory describes how a leader's work habits can influence the work habits of their team members. For example, if a manager is frequently absent or late to work, their team members may come to expect that they forget a lot of pending tasks, and may start to follow their work habits.

Welcome to AT&T friend. How it’s always been and how it will always be. The hierarchical management structure and silo organization will always produce this irrational and hostile behavior that stalls innovation, collaboration and ultimately, long term stability. Been like this ever since the day T (SBC) gobbled all the ILEC’s up. I don’t see it changing in the near or distant future. Just deal with it best you can and hold on to retirement.
