I will apparently spend next week either trying to reschedule my appointments to be done before 8/30 or will cancel them later. Doctor office has already warned that anything past next Friday will not pass pre-certs.

Our local is only asking for a few volunteers for Sat and Sun. Unlike the company, they realize employees have families and other responsibilities outside of work. I can attend church this week because I stepped up last week. In Unity!
I'm hoping our local will let us take Sunday off. Would be nice to go to church this week.

Manager here. Personally I think unions are going to make a resurgence. Most of the workers in the US are treated like cr-p. IT workers get layed off to be replaced by low cost country workers or visa workers that the companies can treat even worse than US workers. There has to be an end to it at some point.

My week is done and I may not have to return to the same site on Monday. Apparently they are worried about friction with the returning workers. Ya did the right thing in coming back. Zero members in our local have crossed the line only, a few non union members have crossed other places so, saying everyone or most is crossing is fake gaslighting.
Still here on the line, we l signed up for strike pay today so, good to go for a few months.
Two CP's from our org were told to expect a release notification by 7am tomorrow based on the number asking to start working again.
6% had already crossed as of last night.
At our location, there are more who have crossed the line than actually on the line today.

This is a pretty pathetic take from a union bro. This attitude is why I would recommend anyone to stop paying your union dues. The union is supposed to protect you from retaliation, but what happens when they are the ones doing it just because you are forced to make a decision to help your family survive. If the union cared, they would be using the dues paid by the employees to pay striking employees a living wage until the strike is over instead of treating local funds as a national slush fund to put in the pockets of politicians.
Walk across the line if you need to work, and contact the CoBC hotline if any of your coworkers start targeting you. They will be the ones with a short career, not you.

Do what's best for you regardless of what CWA is telling you. They only act like they care every fours years to keep people paying union dues, then can't even pay people when they call for a strike. Lol

You will make up the money in OT. You can hold out a bit longer.
Damn, the old timers when I hired in said, back in the late 40’s, 50’s and 60’s strikes lasted for months. Now someone is out for a few days can’t make it, you need to rethink your lifestyle Bud, living way beyond your means or have major healthcare bills.
Older workers said, they did what they needed to hold the line, painted houses, worked on vehicles construction, lawn work… whatever it took.

Said by someone without any consequences on the line, easy to be a keyboard warrior but this is a real life career changing decision for someone that crosses. They will be sued for the money anyways so, what’s the point? If they have a major life issue that requires money that can’t be gotten any other way then talk to your local president and explain it.
They may have other options too.
Other options, take a loan out of your 401k, bank loan, if you have a loan with the credit union they will defer your payments when on strike until one goes back to work. Borrow from a relative, drive for Uber, pizza delivery, etc. many options.
Bottom line…….Do what’s right for you and your family. If anyone has a problem with a man doing that…….EFF ‘em.
You have to realize that the At&t pension is only one slice of the pie. If you served in the military and are a veteran file for benefits. Buy your own annuity with some of your 401k and collect a monthly check. Remember that when you collect Social Security it’s just another piece of the pie. Any large sums you decide to keep in Fidelity’s money market collect a good return. If you get negative you’ll probably vote for the San Francisco liberal Harris. We don’t Need more crime and po-p - dr-gs on the street. Good luck

Because when people start crossing and you lose membership you lose your bargaining power, and no matter what a manager will come on here and say union members still have better insurance, keep their insurance when they retire, cannot be fired at will , still have a pension that is contributed to every year, severance pay , can be paid to voluntary leave with a bonus in a surplus situation, can get up to a years pay for being permanently disabled I can go on and on.
Besides the scabs that cross the line WIll be caught and WILL be sued by the union for the pay they made for crossing ( another benefit).

Easy, we are on strike for a reason and people working is cross purpose for our goals to get the company back to bargaining in good faith.

Yes, you can apply for one of those AT WILL positions. WILL relocate you thousands miles away, WILL RTO you hundreds of miles away, WILL rebadge or off-shore your position, WILL increase your scope of work, WILL reorg regularly, WILL take away your pension and benefits, WILL take away some of your PTO days and designate others, WILL take away your retiree healthcare so now you need to work to 65 for Medicare, WILL layoff at a moments notice and WILL be gone in two weeks, WILL reduce your severance, etc….

Why does 100k employees allowed a couple guys decide what is good for all? Sure there is a vote but why is there a lack of real time updates? This is the 21st century but these meetings and lack of meaningful updates creates room for distrust.

Why would you willingly apply and accept a union position in the first place??? Vast majority of southeast jobs don't have a union so please go apply elsewhere
