Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Severance and full remote jobs being gone-zo

Can you negotiate this? For instance, I’m G15, there’s a minor, medium and max amount (counted in weeks). Who comes up with what amount you get? Does anyone ever get the max? I’m guessing not.

Also, has anyone been brave enough to post on the company bulletin board about remote jobs going away? Haven’t seen any posts…surprised.

@gvg+1tySxBJS Warn act means employer must notify you 60 days in advance IF:

it’s a plant closing or a single site layoff of over 50
it’s a mass layoff of 50-500 (at a single site) and that number is at least 33% of all staff at that site
your employer lays off over 500 full time workers at a single site.

It’s easy to get around those 3, so people shouldn’t expect to see a WARN notice.

Yes, I am aware of all that. This is where the grey area I referred to comes into play. You either get WARN notice or not, depending on circumstances. But the severance itself is per the published matrix. It is not something that gets negotiated or varies beyond the criteria laid out in the matrix (pay grand and length of service).

Throughout my years at the bank, I earned various commendations and awards, including a couple of esteemed Shields. Ultimately, I took the bold step to explore new horizons. Don't leave with a sour impression. Just move on.

I reached my savings goal and am ready to sue when they eliminate me. It is so obvious that they have been letting older people go at a disproportionate rate and I kept the receipts.

Lower grades get zilch in severance. Discrimination set up.

There's nothing to negotiate. There's a very clear matrix where you look up your pay grade and number of years of service, and you get the number of weeks that's in that box on the matrix. There is no such thing as a midpoint (that concept applies to salary range for the pay grades). The only grey area is whether your layoff should be covered under the WARN Act, which means you would need at least 60 days advance notice of your exit date.

The severance is a minimum is 12 weeks for grades 14-16. Maximum severance pay is 52 weeks. There is nothing about a midpoint in the severance policy. Log on to Total Rewards and type severance in the search bar. You can download the policy.

I was laid off as a 16 and wish I’d hired a lawyer to at least negotiate for me! I think I got the midpoint. Best of luck!

At G15 I believe your minimum starts at 12 weeks.
