I left this company about a year ago as a software engineer and I can’t express how happy I am to have left this company. All of the posts are 100% accurate when it comes down to sapience, badge swiping, 9 hours in office per day etc. For those who are questioning whether to jump, please do yourselves a favor and apply for other positions.
There are so many other better jobs out there.. when I left for my new company I received: a bump in pay, less days in office, less hours spent in office per day, and landed in a more prestigious company with significantly more employees (who are much happier), and received work that feels more fulfilling than working on legacy systems.
Also, realize that unlimited PTO is a scam. Fiserv doesn’t let you take more than 2 weeks off at a time which is an outdated rule for most companies. Plus on top of that, if you do end up leaving, Fiserv does not give you any leftover vacation time since you are unlimited PTO. It’s a clever way to save the company money. I don’t think they are in the habit of giving (if any) severance if they choose to fire you.
Your direct manager is probably not at fault here, I believe it’s coming from a couple tiers higher and your manager is most likely just “playing ball”. I firmly believed before I left that they would eventually invoke 5 days in the office, I am happy to see that this isn’t the case. I had many colleagues who shared the same levels of stress that I shared, it’s very common at this job. I can see the company is still bleeding people as I have recruiters in my LinkedIn inbox constantly asking if I am interested in a role at Fiserv. Never again.
