Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Can’t stand working here anymore

I’ve been here for too long, and thinking about changing jobs for a while now. I’ve very little time to commit to scouting, and frankly, I’m both too exhausted and too scared to even start. I see here in the comments that experience with looking for a new job varies. In my case a new job doesn’t even have to pay better, it just has to be not this place. Preferably some small solid business. Big corporations are taking years off our lives, and for nothing, really. Any advice would be cherished. Encouragement as well :).

I am glad to see someone say "a new job doesn’t even have to pay better". That's a great attitude to have. Lots of folks out here say they received a huge raise in their new job. Whatever. If you can get a good raise, great, but never, ever underestimate the intangibles.

A poor attitude will get you nowhere

Have your resume reviewed and redone. They know how to write it up to get through the AI screening. Tailor your updated resume and a cover letter to each job you apply for. Pay for better LinkedIn- it’s worth it. Set aside time each day to search for and apply to jobs. Message the recruiters directly if the info is available.
I got out and life is good on the outside. It’s like Andy Dufresne said in Shawshank: get busy livin’ or stay at Fiserv.
It’s your choice. You can do it. Post on this site that you started your journey and I’ll share interview tips (because I had a lot of interviews before I landed my sweet gig)

Size of corporation does not matter. There are toxic places both small and large. You have to suss that out in the interview and ask the right questions. But do not think that this is the norm, it is far from the norm. Be employee first. This place does not even pretend to care about employees. I got out and I love my new company. And I worked at a really great company before coming here. I didn't work here for very long. I don't understand the fear because of that. You need not think this is normal. This is so far from normal. It's unbelievable.

There are big corporations that do not su-k the life out of you. I work for a competitor after working at FD for 21 years. I make way better money with real bonuses.

Spend an hour working on your resume. You are now one hour closer to your next job.

I'm getting to that point. Issue is other jobs outside of the company pay far less than what I make currently.
