Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Diversity Increases, Revenue Drops

Around 2017 the key HR initiative was the retirement cliff at Nike. The first generation of leaders would be retiring in the next ten years and we needed to develop the future leaders. Then JD came in and fired the leaders and their successors because they were white males.

@1oil+1tkSASJs How is On beating Nike in running? They are a 2BN company, Nike is a 50bn company.

In running, they have 1.2% of the market share, nike has 41%.

Nike may be needs to fix the strategy to rebuild retailer share and grass roots partnerships but your statement of them bragging Nike is factually incorrect

Just like CDA strategy, the ambitious Nike Inc diversity targets by 2025 implemented years back have backfired. Targets have been achieved but at what cost..? Almost as if every major change led by JD has made the company worse.

"@gmt have you heard about On?
Well, they are Swiss. And beating Nike on running left and right."

well there you go
if they are very successful, then insourcing and outsourcing with
switzerland makes sense, we want to copy somewhat what works

not so much with the unsuccessful countries

@gmt have you heard about On?

Well, they are Swiss. And beating Nike on running left and right.

Yes, beating Nike in running.

If you haven't, I can assure you the analysts and Wall Street heard a lot about them.... also, DSG and Nordstrom.

i am not sure why these creative brilliant folks from other countries don't just startup their own company and compete with the US companies

for example, tiny japan has honda which produces a pretty decent product
it seems all the US companies are going down the drain now

So far DEI has been used to force employees into executives beds. Literally. There’s a reason people hate it at Nike. The department can’t go a year without a lawsuit.

@OP your fragile and toxic masculinity is showing, sweetie. You should probably mask that and stopping being a d-mb fu-k. DEI is a great thing. It allows more fostering of innovation. DEI isn’t just race/ethnicity based, it’s also for different genders, for people who are disabled/neurospicy, etc. And let me tell you ADHDers are far more creative and innovative than the average person.

I do agree it should always be the right person with the right skills for the job. But using DEI can be great for neurodivergents/people with disabilities who might not thrive in interview settings.

The issue is not DEI. It is hiring based on DEI or solely to satisfy the goal of DEI.
I am a minority. Not sure if I was hired as part of DEI or not but I can tell you Nike is not that kind to me either. I am paid way less than my white male counterparts and do not get me started on how poorly I am treated. And before you jump at me and say Leave... Yeah I am actually leaving on my own terms in the next few weeks

I’m as conservative as they come but I need help. Can you draw the line between CDA, lack of innovation and DEI goals for me?

Putting it all on DEI let’s out failed leadership off the hook.

Shhhh… Speaking the truth gets you censored. Any comment questioning how Nike is implementing DEI gets removed within 24 hrs. The same will happen to this post.

If you’re wondering why such under qualified individuals have been promoted https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/03/11/nike-sets-diversity-goals-for-2025-ties-executive-comp-back-to-them.html

WHQ folks think PST is the only timezone and berm is whole world. Hence they are royally sc--wed by their WHQ masters

Despite what many in WHQ know, there are other times zones than PST and Nike has offices around the world.

Rambling about diversity on a like layoff board at 5:50am is peak obsession. This company lives rent free in your mind at all hours of the day.
