Can Wells find out if you land a role during your displacement notice period? If so, are there ways to avoid being caught?

Notice period - if you work anything that is reportable (ie not cash) - you will be caught and your severance will be voided. That includes driving for Uber, etc. For those that are skeptical, you don’t understand how these real-time info systems are set up. This is standard practice for large companies, not something Wells Fargo specific…. Similar to how all lenders report to credit bureaus.
After notice period, no impact to severance.
I am five months into my severance period and started my new job about a month ago. Have not heard a peep from WF.
Does anybody know of anybody who Wells found out "worked" during the NOTICE period and canceled the severance? I highly doubt it. Only the fear-mongers on this board will respond. I have found fear-mongers have the biggest difficulty finding a job so they go to boards like these. Sad
Taxes are reported quarterly. Companies don't have access to other companies' tax records. There is no ADP notification service. The "work number" is used for verification, not notification.
YOU CAN WORK DURING SEVERANCE, JUST NOT THE NOTICE PERIOD! MAN, HOW MANY TIMES DO WE NEED TO SAY THIS

So somebody couldn’t even say, start uber driving during their notice period to start saving a little cash in case they can’t find a new full time role before severance runs out? That seems like BS. Somebody worried about a layoff who might want to do that would probably be best serve setting it up now, even if it’s only nominal, just so they could say they got it before the notice period.
Please for all that is holy , do nothing during your 60 day period. After that, you can do what you want and keep your sev. Short of a cash job, they will find out as a lot of companies use ADP and others to process payroll and all of them have business services that can let others know you received a paycheck.. Just don't mess with it.
@1yzo+1tkBLgPJ You can have a second job but you MUST start it before your 60 day notice period. The severance agreement is very clear that you cannot start ANY new employment (including part time) or it voids your severance package. I called the displacement team to confirm this after I was laid off.
DO NOT follow this advice. This person is just trying to get some yucks at your expense. Waste of time. This advice is just the opposite of what is real. No, do not work during the 60 days. WF will say you abandoned your position and cancel your severance. Yes you can work during the rest of the severance period without impact. WF will want to lump sum the remaining severance to save on continuing benefit costs.
You CAN work during your severance period, just not during your notice period. I found a job a few months into severance and double dipped for a while.

I have seen this question asked multiple times with a lot of opinion but little in the way of proof of detection capability.
Having a second job before termination affects severance ?
They can and will. Is it worth throwing away your severance package to f around and find out?
If you take a 2nd non conflicting job before displacement, will they know / care ?
If both jobs are paying taxes (not cash under the table) more than likely you will get caught.
Don't do it. As soon as your new employer sends in a SSA deduction WF finds out. If its a 1009 or cash job then no they wont find out.
Very unlikely they will find out. Don't take unemployment.
They can, so not worth it. Wait the 60 days then get a job and double dip.
