Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Confidence job responsibilities capture

Who else thinks that the FIG confidence-based task of capturing our job responsibilities and tasks is really just insurance for fiserv so when they have mass layoffs later this year at some point they won’t be completely dead in the water. And the tasks we put in there is going to directly determine how essential we are and directly influence if we get to keep our jobs. Because absolutely no one can convince me otherwise.

Agreed. The knowledge-transfer program is another transparent mechanism - like online surveillance, badge tracking, rto - intended to enhance their control and, by extension, to reduce the status of employees to that of global sweatshop factory workers…

Wait what? They had us fill that out after they announced we were getting laid off. They are rolling it out to "keepers" as well?

There is so much information that no one would be able to find what they need in there.

Could you imagine being a new employee and getting handed a hot mess of documents to try to figure out what job you are supposed to do? Who am I kidding, the person filling it out is the last person who will ever see that document.

This exercise is for EXACTLY the reasons the OP lays out. This is what happened in other business units as a precursor to laying off remote staff and hiring in go forward offices (or just to reduce headcount) so unknown tasks don't fall to the floor.

First Data in their new incarnation as Fiserv has consistently demonstrated behaviors shared by other worst-case companies driven exclusively by unbridled ego and limitless greed.

So any program or initiative they roll out has to be viewed and interpreted in that context. To assume the worst is called for. To treat with suspicion is called for. To take anything these folks introduce at face value is to misunderstand their nature.
