Rescinded displacement

Has anyone here heard of or actually been displaced then pulled back before the working notice period has ended. I actually know of two in my area. Commercial bank.

I know of someone whose displacement was rescinded one day before the 60 days was up and told them to return to work as a different position. I think they are doing this and hoping that the employee will not come back and they will not have to pay severance. Most of the employees who got laid off started looking for new jobs outside and probably had jobs lined up after the 60 days phase was over.

"Why would you want to come back?"

Because the market is trash right now for tech and finance?

Why would you want to come back? You’re damaged goods. Grass is way better/greener with the competition outside Wells.

Ha! My coworker and I were speaking about this. If our India replacements S%#^ the bed they’ll call us back. I’ve been laid off before and had to work my 60 day notices, I was looking forward to a paid 60 day notice.

I would find it prudent to anticipate this to be only a temporary reprieve.

It happened to a person in Telecom last year. He is lazy and looking for the package. They notified him an rescinded. They are gonna wait him out until he quits. Laughs all around. The whole team wants the layoffs and are willing to put up with him, so a deserved party gets their freedom. Maybe he should learn to be a nice person.

Yep, in CIB. They put forward a team for displacement consideration, the team was notified and had their access removed, to later find out it was a mistake and they were good. You can’t make this stuff up.

Yes. I heard of several being called back to work, this month, at near the end of their 60 day notice because of issues with their India team replacements.

yes - its rare (and not necessarily permanent) but usually tied to underestimating resource needs or realizing that with the zero-day displacement disrupted things.
