Are there any legal avenues to seek if I get laid off right before or during my maternity leave? I’m expecting my first child next month and feel like they will be coming after me.

@tbb+1t4Qxl9L, indeed, we are in the hunger games, the condemned, squid game or death race. Basically we are all rats in a cage, and the psychopath Charlie is watching and enjoying it. 🤮
Reading these posts makes me want to watch The Hunger games all over again.
Consult a lawyer. Your chances of getting a higher amount via a settlement is really good.
Getting laid off on a leave is great. 1st off, the 60 day notice period or your leave time, whichever is greater is used. 2nd, after your LOA is up, then you get your 45 day OWNPA leave because it can not run with an LOA. They usually take at least 2 weeks to sort that out. So make sure you get your Max LOA time.
If you are under the age for OWBPA, no worries, everyone is covered by it because they let go so many folks that are covered.
Usually layoffs are determined months in advance (which is why I recommend anyone pregnant wait until the last possible moment to tell their manager). They can technically use any excuse to skirt around this (ex. saying they are laying off due to efficiency). At least your healthcare coverage goes through your severance period. If you get laid off and your due date is within your 60 day window, I would fight for the 4 month maternity pay too (since you are technically still an employee) on top of the severance.
Sad these are the things you have to worry about at this company.
