There is no exception process if you announce you are retiring and they tell you to work part of your notice to transition the team and the new leader. I am in that process now. I was told to work 30 days, did not have a choice. Part of the RSRs agreement. I am an Exec Dir./Business Exec. Dir.

All these Senior leaders that are “retiring “ aren’t retiring! They get the choice on how they want the message to be presented.

"@1omv+1slIAMgL, they don't have to go through an exception process for working notice. If they are Sr. leaders with a critical role, they are being asked to stay longer to help the team transition. "

Yes, there is an exception process. The way that happened was as they processed the displacement the default is "no working notice". If there's a reason why there should be working notice, the manager submitting the layoff 'paperwork' has to provide a rationale and it goes thru additional layers of review and approval.

That's an exception process.

@1omv+1slIAMgL, they don't have to go through an exception process for working notice. If they are Sr. leaders with a critical role, they are being asked to stay longer to help the team transition. They sign a professional conduct agreement during that period in exchange for a good amount of severance package. But based on my observation, these Sr. leaders tend to be old-timers who are close to retirement.

good friend of mine in CIB is retiring, but they are making her work part of the 60 days. More common here in CIB than you think. Directors and above it seems like.

Laid off August of last year, all non-working. Haven't heard of anyone yet receiving a working notice of any sort.

working notice is very rare, and has to go thru an exception process.

If you are an executive or a Sr. manager, you typically get a working notice. I was working with a Sr. team lead who was in that situation. He was intelligent, knowledgeable, friendly, honest, and hard working. He received a working notice but had to continue working about 9 months because the upper management did not do a good job in reorganizing the department and team member transitioning. He had been at Wells Fargo more than 20 years and he was responsible for building his team from scratch. Many people on his team said his layoff was political. The upper management brought in some new executives from JP Morgan and they decided to get rid of all the old-timers regardless of their performance. One of the ex-JP Morgan executives basically did nothing except for doing ridiculous townhall meetings. She retired after making a few million bucks at Wells Fargo. I feel sorry for that Sr. manager who was sacrificed for this toxic reorg. He was very nice guy, learned a lot from him, and I had so much respect for him.

Had colleagues in Wealth Investment Management (WIM) who had working notices for a few weeks before non-working time kicked in.

Aside from Human Resources, I haven’t seen anyone get a “working notice”. Are there other groups that get this?

Non-working for me. I was remotely locked out of my laptop a few hours after I got the news.
