Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Seeking a medical exception for quicker layoff?

I live close to a core location but want to be displaced, not fired for a BS excuse. Would a medical exception make me a remote worker and get me in a first phase for a layoff?

Trying to have some control over the future. Strategize with me

Medical accommodation isn’t going to get you laid off. It won’t save your job either. What matters is the content of your role and the value you bring in that role.

Trying to file a bogus accommodation is just going to make it harder for people that have legitimate medical needs to be able to get what they need to survive and be productive.

If you want to leave your employer, then put all your spare time into getting a job, stop trying to find a way to get a severance payout.

“ LinkedIn keeps sending me jobs where I should be paid about 40,000 more than I’m being paid, time to move on!”

Lol, go on with your bad self. Get ready for your rude awakening you clueless dolt.

Talk to an employment attorney. Present the rules and give them leeway to bend them to your advantage. Make a game plan. Wells does it all the time to their staff.

It doesn't work like that.

Shift your mindset. You do have some control over this, just not the final decision control that you want.

  1. You can decide that you will “win” this game with WF (who is hoping US employees not in office or near a hub will quit) and simply not quit. You will simultaneously do only what needs to be done and keep your words and actions clean so there is no reason for you to be terminated.
  1. You quit. Obviously no severance but some have had success in getting a more attractive new job/pay/benefits and peace of mind.

If you have a legit medical necessity to only wfh, then go for it. It certainly won’t stop WF from displacing you. Slim chance, IMO, it will speed up the process. You will now be reliant on your doctor to essentially “advocate” for you to wfh. So that is out of your control, too.

I personally believe everyone of us is already “tagged” as something like keep or let go. This tagging is likely above your direct manager’s influence or knowledge. Also, I’ve heard the company is getting quite tough on accommodations and the goal is to give other options than wfh. Side note, first phase has already started for most business groups.

I personally think it’s bad karma if someone embellishes or falsifies things like illness or death.

Good luck, OP. I hope you get what you want.

I’m a rules follower and just doing what I have to do with the best. Just had a 10 hour surgery where my surgeons at the Mayo Clinic, main surgeon, said she thought I was gonna die.

I go in three times a week to make sure I do the rules. I should probably be on a medical thing but I’m not gonna do that, just going in. I don’t make a lot of money because I’m a super nice person, hard worker!

Don’t be like me because when you’re a nice person and a hard worker you get, “Meets, inconsistently “

Pretty fu---d up when you have to go on this two surgeries and they rate you with this!

I haven’t been paid good since 2008, I should’ve left for real but my husband had a cancer, had to care of him and I just wanted a good job but I look at my paychecks and it looks like I’ve only grown about $2000 in like eight years, it makes me sick to my stomach, but I’ve had a lot of struggles.

LinkedIn keeps sending me jobs where I should be paid about 40,000 more than I’m being paid, time to move on!

It's worth a shot, but I've heard if you're within 40 miles of a core location your medical exemption should stand. With that said, it very likely could fast track you to a layoff for another reason other than location strategy. A better idea might be to use someone's address outside of the 40 miles of a core location. Pretend you moved. Or better, use that new address and get the exemption. That might really do it.

As you can see, I just don't care about this company anymore.

That sounds about right, but I'm not an insider.
