Moved my family in my dime, lied to and layed off within 1 year. Filthy Cockroaches but shame on me. Lenox Office Campus is a dump too. Good thing is I got job with a small company with far more pay and benefits so it did work out. You never know until you jump or are shoved from big fat Attrainwreck.

Spread the news: Take the move and get demoted or laid off or fired. You are definitely at the bottom of the pecking order when you take the move. Might be better to just refuse the move and look for empty elsewhere. After all you are just a number, I mean a UUID.
“I was also let go after moving to Dallas in March. My reviews are average to great. No recent exceeds or whatever. I'm now registering as an uber driver for the Dallas area, so if you hop in my car, let me know you are an ATT guy. I think it will work out.”
What is this? RTO fan fiction?
My union rep would never allow this!!!!
I was also let go after moving to Dallas in March. My reviews are average to great. No recent exceeds or whatever. I'm now registering as an uber driver for the Dallas area, so if you hop in my car, let me know you are an ATT guy. I think it will work out. There are tons of Dallas drivers and I can just wrack up the tax deductible mileage I think. Would I move again for ATT even though I was laid off? Yeah, I'd do it. So what, I lost what, like $40k in moving and realtor expenses, but the severance paid for part of that. The apartment I found isn't bad. about $1600 per month. Wife hasn't divorced me yet. Quit being a pu**y and move. It will be fine.
Was let go on the 3rd and without warning. Came back from disability, had a 2 minute call and was informed anything else call HR.
Warning, not sure an individual is given a warning they will be let go, unless you want to consider the RTO letter where you are given notice of a timeframe if you choose not to move. I don’t think the company is permitted to discuss such issues while you are on disability, they is why the rules say folks out on disability /FMLawill be informed upon return.
Fake news
Same thing happened in the FTW action from 2018-19, and it will continue to happen. One of my peers recovering from stomach cancer requested an extension for 2 years so that he could continue seeing his oncologist until his 5-year clear had been reached. AT&T said "no", so he showed up in Dallas on the date. Since they had a relo plan last time, he had sold his house in NJ and moved the family to Dallas with plans to fly back when he needed to see his doctor (even though his oncologist was technically not going to be on his insurance plan anymore since he moved to another state). Well, he was laid off 6 months after the move. Great company! And a true story.

“Kinda lost me at Lenox Campus being a dump... was it the park with a walking trail around the pond or the philosopher's garden area behind 1025 that turned you off?”
Maybe the filth of the building???
1025 Lenox will begin to dwindle. More people will be layed off, more outsourcing..
L3s and above trying to make the NorthPoint campus their new home. They rich out there and want to separate North Point from Lenox and Lenox will continue to deteriorate…
Don’t believe a word AT&T management says. Never ever ever. They Always lie!
Allow me to reply, it was supposed to filed under workers comp, but the company let it go under disability claims, my previous manager didnt know his head from a hole in the ground so I was clueless as to what to file anything under.
For ref I was injured on the job.
Does Stankey know about this? Get in touch with him, he will make things right. You will get your job back at the very least.
Was let go on the 3rd and without warning. Came back from disability, had a 2 minute call and was informed anything else call HR....Oh yeah they also didn't file the workers comp paperwork so it's going to be interesting going forward.
So which was it? Disability or worker's comp? Disability means that you're covered for injuries that prevent you from working but didn't happen at work. Worker's comp means it happened at work and there may have been some liability/coverage by the company.
Addressing the other: Entirely possible that you were part of a department surplus/downsize. However, if you were out on leave, they couldn't necessarily contact you, and you wouldn't have had access to systems. Over the last year, our group has had 2 people out for medical/FMLA/etc. and their company access was suspended for the duration. We couldn't email or call them. They could not access their work email, etc, even though they still had company assets. If they had been surplussed, they wouldn't have found out until they returned to work.
There's going to be a few stories like this over the next couple of years. A sales director friend of mine said more people said they'd follow their job to a hub than were expected. This is why people don't have places to sit in the office & they've slowed down the process somewhat to try to catch up. Once things settle down, they're going to start cutting people they thought they'd get rid of by asking to move.
“ Was let go on the 3rd and without warning. Came back from disability, had a 2 minute call and was informed anything else call HR.”
Now tell us how often you are on disability or FMLA?
How long were you milking this round of disability?
Tons of employees JUST LIKE THAT in this company. They had a plan for you.
My neck! My back! My neck and my back!
“Kinda lost me at Lenox Campus being a dump... was it the park with a walking trail around the pond or the philosopher's garden area behind 1025 that turned you off?”
Maybe it was the literal fistfights that broke out over desks & seats.
“When they balck at it, just tell them three companies are reaching out to you for more money.”
You know this isn’t true and so do they.

For the naysayers - caveat emptor. Go ahead and not follow OP's advice.
“So you moved like the company asked you to in order to keep your job, then they fire you anyway. That's not right.”
This isn’t right. This post is fake.
“…The receiving org will always protect their existing before a new person...”
100%,every time, and it matters not how good you are.
That’s the risk you always take being the “new guy”. First out the door when push comes to shove.
So you moved like the company asked you to in order to keep your job, then they fire you anyway. That's not right.
“Not this time around. Stankey wants to reduce heads by about 30K. He does not want anyone to move. He wants you off the books. He has got to continue to pay down debt. He does not care about employees lives. That is why he would rather pay you to leave than pay you to move.”
Yeah…I mean then you quit or lie, lie and keep drawing a check while flaunting their bs plan…or just give in take the severance and find something else.
Either way, don’t play by their rules - don’t play their game. Look out for yourself and no one else.
“Next time negotiate to have company moved your family. You gotta ask.
When they balck at it, just tell them three companies are reaching out to you for more money.”
That’s what I did, I said I’m not moving unless I get a 2 step promotion or relocation package if they wanted to keep me leading my projects.
Needless to say, I got an extension.

The same type of thing happened in 2018 when they were FTW. At least ATT paid to you move you then.

15 years with this POS and I know I'm still reading the forums but I would love to see STINK loose everything even though being a realist he'll skate on by.
Good luck to anyone left and make sure to NOT turn off the lights when they fire you.
Oh yeah they also didn't file the workers comp paperwork so it's going to be interesting going forward.
God Bless
Next time negotiate to have company moved your family. You gotta ask.
When they balck at it, just tell them three companies are reaching out to you for more money.
When they push to learn who. Tell them Gas, water and light.
Good luck
I don’t know why so many people are saying this isn’t true.
What's also definitely true is that if you transfer to a new organization, you'll be put at the bottom of the list for any individual bonus, salary increase, etc. The receiving org will always protect their existing before a new person.
I don’t know why so many people are saying this isn’t true.
Just because you move, it doesn’t mean you or your org are protected from layoffs.
If you happen to be in an org that’s struggling T doesn’t care if you just moved for the company it’s very easy for this to happen.
There’s no reason to believe this person isn’t being honest.
This company is garbage all you simps need a wake up call.
That’s the way they do it. This has been happening for years. They did it with Maintenance Admin 20 years ago. And they did it with the NOC 10 years ago. Seems to be a strategy for the company, a tragedy for the employees. Get used to it. My advice: don’t make a move thinking it will last more than 6 months.
Cool story bro.
Well done landing on your feet. I know someone personally who chose to move by the end of the year and was laid off last month.
Another reminder. AT&T management always lies. Always!
This is the start of a great fiction novel.
The Stink is worse than any filthily cockroach, rat or Kommunist. He is subhuman.
What group and when did you get surplused?
