Are you in Oregon??

I’ve heard that some were laid off today at Barnhart. Were you? Any news as to what departments/LOBs were let go today??

I heard the Tower lease is up in 2028?
That could be wrong….thinking the retail branch might remain, and wonder if WF will lose the Wells Fargo Center to another company?

Displaced employees don't need food at their former office.

Overheard a rumor that the cafeteria in Barnhart is closing in May. Anyone else hear this and do we know of this happening soon before closing previous locations?

If he had a soul he'd at least let everyone there WFH until the end. Unfortunately he's all together evil, and will enjoy tormenting you first. FHY, FCS.

It’s all such BS. I think all of us Barnhart people will be gone before December 2024. Why drag it on, especially when most, if not all, LOBs here have reps elsewhere? How is this a smart business decision, Charlie? We are all just sitting here waiting.

Hard for the execs to be transparent when they are lying through their teeth about their schemes, intent and reasoning.

First off, I want to express my concern and condolences to all in Oregon. However, the statement "Oregon got the short end of the “within the next 2-4 years” plan which was previously presented. " is still misleading. I know of a specific (CA) location which got the "2-3 years" statement and will be shutting less than 6 months after that statement. So, "within the next 2-4 years" means anytime from today through the end of 4 years (but likely in the first 2). Just note that and start looking for another job now. Do not expect it to go 4 years. It sounds like most of you expect 2024 or 2025 and that is likely. I do wish you all well.

Thanks for the info on Salem specifically. As someone who was working in the Barnhart (which has similar ghost-town vibes), i was thinking maybe Salem was still a bustling, full business center. Sounds super depressing there, which is really tough on customer-facing employees. When i worked in collections, one of the only things that kept us sane was the conversations we'd have between (and during) calls..

Haha, i see what you mean. My posts weren't intended to sound like complaints. Just acknowledging that the human side of this is really tough, really stressful. Obviously, WF is a business. They frequently lay employees off with zero advance notice. So in this case (with the Barnhart center), it's pretty clear that the point of transparency isn't benevolent - it's a strategy to increase attrition. The intended side effect of that transparency is tension (stress leading to employees quitting). I don't believe that WF is malicious - it's an indifferent machine that's trying to maximize profits just like every other company.

Conversely, they couldn't say a thing and then surprise.

Too much transparency, then not enough. Amazing

The site director in Salem jumped ship last month. All of our leaders are taking back to back vacation time (emptying their accrued time?). OMs and managers leaving every week. Our trainers were laid off months ago. We haven't hired in a year plus. Alternating work from home weeks means there are never more than a handful in the building at a time. The managers we do have are so checked out it isn't funny. It's just frustrating to know the business well enough to know we won't last probably through the end of 2024 but they want to keep touting "the end of 2025". Unrealistic unless Beaverton and Salem all work in one building until the end. Who's keeping the lights on for the 6 people that will be left here at the end of the year? Obviously a gross exaggeration, but the point remains the same.

Absolutely. And unfortunately, it's an effective tactic. I know some people have already left, because it feels humiliating (and super stressful) to wait around for some executive to decide your fate. I completely support waiting to be laid off to get severance - the Barnhart has so many employees who have been with the bank for 10-20+ years, even in the collections department. But i also support the folks who are saying "fk this place" and leaving on their own terms. I'm not sure what I'd be doing if i were still employed there - my group got laid off a couple of months ago. Finishing my 60-day non-working period now.

@xcp+1s43mGbC,

Was "pre-2025" specific to certain locations and/or LOBs, or was it misunderstood per the other replies?

The ambiguity around 2024 vs 2025 is a blatant tactic to force attrition. No doubt about that.

Sounds like an infuriating experience, honestly, like they're jerking everyone around to intentionally increase the stress. Waiting to be laid off is stressful even for people who want to be laid off - not knowing when and not having control over the situation is awful. It's clear they're trying to increase attrition. Like you said, there are many teams in the Barnhart that only have 2-3 employees, and the building is mostly empty anyway (at least on the bottom floor). So it feels like they could axe the whole building in a single day, or they could drag it on for years. It's hard to focus on the daily work in those conditions, and rumors are running rampant. Stressful. I'm sorry. Thank you for sharing.

What about the LOBs in the downtown tower? End of 2024 or 2025?

They invited us all to the meeting as soon as we came in we had to log into this meeting. It's the Tuesday after payday. We were all like oh this is it. Just for them to tell us what we already know. They will be exiting Oregon Beaverton and Salem by the end of 2025. No new info. I wonder if this was a dry run for the actual event. My biggest pet peeve is they are giving end of 2025 but at my site we have lost most leadership, a ton of agents, how do they expect us to sustain normal attrition for another almost 2 years. Very unrealistic in my opinion. We are already running less than half our capacity. Some of our teams have 2 people on them. They're consolidating regularly. But why not give us something real? Not this end of 2025 BS timeline.

The comprehension level of this group is abismal.

The timeline was clearly presented by the end of 2025 for Oregon today. This was repeated several times.

Oregon got the short end of the “within the next 2-4 years” plan which was previously presented. Those of you that thought that meant you had at least 2 years left need to learn what the word “by” means in that context.

"pre-2025", sooooo, in the next 7 months?

Didn't they previously tell us that it was by the end of 2025?

I'm sure they will make every effort to spin up replacement teams elsewhere ASAP so they can minimize severance, 401k match, and bonus expenditures. Best of luck to everyone in OR, you didn't deserve the fate that the failed leadership group in NYC is shelling out.

Same old story. We were told Barnhart close by the end of 2025. Some other sites will close by 2027. So basically no new info.
