Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nxt Rd. of Layoffs/When, where?

Does anyone have a sense on when the next round of layoffs will be here in NA? I know last round, leaders asked teams to WFH for the week... Did that always indicate your fate? My boss asked us all to WFH next week, but hasn't said anything more... Do we have any clue what groups could be impacted this time around?

Very new to Nike and this is my first time going through this. Whatever happens will happen, but it's been really tough to focus the past 2+ months.

Thank you all in advance.

Here’s the Math walk…
Nike has 80,000 Employees worldwide. 2% = 1600.
When you subtract the In House Manufacturing (Air bags), retail and warehouse, you are left with around 26,000 “corporate” jobs globally.
1600 of 26k = 6% reduction in corporate.
500 “exits” in round 1 back in February
1100 to go in round 2 (round 1,2 in Europe)
I’d speculate 450-500 (of the 11,400 = ~4%) at WHQ in Beaverton over the next week will be “exited”.
Should close some offices, starting with BATC (that’s JD excuse to fly down on the corporate jet to be with his family)

May the odds be in your favor my friend……

There’s no reason to believe APLA wouldn’t go at the same time as everyone else , we did with the first round . APLA however has not communicated anything to most people. I know some teams have been asked to work remote already but there hasn’t been any sweeping confirmation.

IMO, The WFH request is so that employees are not exposed to heightened emotions which can happen. In past, I have been in office situations where there have been verbal public attacks, tears, trying to get back to desk (which may or may not be allowed). Employers are being cautious -- they'd rather do a cold layoff meeting via Zoom as opposed to in-person. Is one better than the other, it depends on who you ask.

@etr+1s3wBAcR The new FAQ is just relevant to EMEA since European labor laws forced a different timeline. Solid sources have confirmed that NA and Global restructuring will occur next week with an initial update from leadership arriving sometime later this week. I have no info on APLA, so can't speak to what is going on there.

Interesting! So, EMEA this and next week based on their leaders note. Based on FAQ not sure if NA is impacted. The messaging is very unclear. The path forward seems like a tunnel.

I was asked to work from home last time but was not laid off. They ask the whole dept to wfh if that dept is impacted.
