Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Gas Price Impact On Our Commute

The gas prices suddenly skyrocketed due to the war in the Middle East. I say this is just the beginning. I have to drive 45 min each way to the office three times a week. I have to spend a lot of money on gas every week and causing a major financial pain. Did the gas prices go up in your area too? How are you dealing with this? I wish Wells Fargo could bring back the 100% WFH option again.

"Then you did exactly what Shart wanted."

So.......... 'Charlie Um' wanted me to take a 14 month vacation at the companies expense, then comfortably retire and wake up every morning with no obligations what-so-ever?

Excellent! I should send him a thank you card!

and...... now that iran has entered the chat, your gas is gonna keep going up, and you'll still have to go into the office. try selling that to wells as a reason you don't want to come to work.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

you'll have to forgive me, apparently reading comprehension is another skill you do not possess..... as I stated, wells let me go back in 2023, and I then retired.

no 'gobbling knob', no 'whimpering'.

and I DIDN'T go back into the office.

TADA!

The only requirement you can meet to save YOUR job is to work in India. You think because your d-mb enough to support RTO that you're going to be safe? lol. I had been working from home 5 days a week since 10 years ago until it became 2 days a week after the pandemic.

These anti-remote job nutcases seem to have a reading comprehension problem or they just don't read the comments below. They are so jealous and angry at remote employees. LOL. It is obvious they didn't finish high school. Who hired these knuckleheads?

airhead? naw hondo, just a former who got mustered out in '23 and now giddily watches the rest of you cry and nash yer teeth over workplace requirements that will ultimately be the end of your tenure at wells fargo.

I am sure you'll lay it all out (like you have here) to a workplace lawyer you hire to try and justify your position, which you'll lose, in addition to thousands of dollars--and the job you couldn't abide by, Instead of searching for a better fit elsewhere.

Cheers!

@1mcc+1s1sO9B6, why do we need to keep explaining to you airheads? Thousands of Wells Fargo employees were hired as 100% remote 5-10 years ago before the pandemic because their jobs required to work virtually with their teammates located in different time zones (EST, CST, MST, PST, London, India, the Philippines). Those remote employees have no reason to drive to the office where they have no colleagues to talk to.

oh, shut it hippie. none of those things matter to you, you just don't want to go to work.

how were you ever employed prior to the 'pandemic'? and I assume you don't drive anywhere in your off-hours.

I am a shut-in like you, but I have never used the fig-leaf of the environment to justify my not going to work.

depressingly sad.

I am a firm believer of 100% Remote Work and I fully support it. It saves gas, stops polluting the air, saves time, saves money, etc. Some people are angry because they did not get that opportunity earlier, but I do not understand why they are being so illogical, irrational, inflexible and stubborn.

Yep, prices went up for me. I sometimes take a PTO day so it's only 2 days. I used to live close to the office, but out priced so I moved where there was more affordability.

Hilarious the people coming off remote are like lost puppies. People have been doing it for decades, but now the remote people are just now catching up with the problems we've all dealt with for years

Solution: find a new job that allows WFH, or…find a new job closer to home. Y’all bent over RTO are like broken records.

how is this different than any other time in ones career? Maybe I stead of driving large $100k+ pickups that get 10mpg you should get something with better gas mileage.

@1emp+1s1sO9B6, many members on my team are not located near public transportation. I happen to have a bus station 1.5 miles away from my house. But if try to take a bus to get to the office, it will take more than 3 hours because I have to switch to a different bus a couple of times before I get to the office. Someone mentioned car pooling, but no one who lives near my neighborhood drives to my office.

Some people here don't seem to know that thousands of Wells Fargo employees were originally hired for a 100% remote position. They were hired before Covid.

If they increased our pay when they forced remote people to drive in, you'd have a real solid point there.

There are some grouchy jealous people here being angry at remote employees. It's kind of funny to see some immature and childish attitudes from those people. But most of us in our department were originally hired as a 100% remote employee more than 5 years ago. The reason is that we have globally distributed team members in many different time zones. We virtually work with those people from early in the morning, sometimes until very late evening. We have absolutely no reason to go to an office where we don't know anybody. When we were hired, there was a telecommuting agreement between Wells Fargo and our team members. After the covid, Wells Fargo suddenly decided to ignore the original telecommuting agreement. So most of us in our department were not expecting that we had to drive to an office 3 times a week. Some of our team members are more than 1 hour away from the designated office, which is totally a waste of time and gas.

Try public transportation. WF has a program where you can pay for a bus pass or some other public transportation option, pre tax. If you're driving, you'll feel the pinch.

You should be given full wfh. Then Wells should cut your salary by 25%. I mean you negotiated your starting salary based on your expenses like fuel, wear and tear, clothing, etc right? Now you’re not spending any of that so why not give it back? This follows your logic so clearly you have no disagreement with this.

Doesn't Wells pay you enough to not worry about gas?

  1. Get a more efficient ICE vehicle.
  2. Get an EV.

Maybe being energy independent would be a good idea. Seems like we weren’t really reliant so much on Middle East oil 4 years ago. What changed???

Yes and they are about to get worse. Many on our team are expected to commute over an hour one way with no other teammates in their office. This makes it more infuriating.
