Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Recruitment Process- Please help me understand

The job hunting process after being displaced has been brutal but nothing prepared me for the “Wells Fargo Careers: Thank you for your time and interest” but you were not selected letter I received today. I applied for the exact same position I held previously and was not selected for an interview, I meet the minimum and desired qualifications and was not selected, how is this possible???

It could be there's a mark in your file from your previous manager. I've seen managers here really excel at playing God- trying to cut people off from earning money & having/getting jobs. It comes in the form of informal references prior to being considered for a hire. You'd be amazed what I've seen & heard. They respect no-one's ability to make a living & be good at their job.

The only way to answer this is to understand why you were displaced. Location, lack of business, performance? And just because you previously held the position doesn't necessarily make you the most qualified person for the role.

A couple of things may have happened. Perhaps you made ‘too much’ while in the positon, and/or others who were let go from the same previously held position also applied.

Or even better if you self-identify as a three-p-ckered billy goat.

You will get hired if you change your name to Rajish, Yogesh or Suresh.

You do know that many American jobs are being outsourced to India right? They are also replacing many jobs to DEI people. Perhaps your location did not meet their location strategy?

@cph+1s158w8P I was laid off because of the product I was managing did not have enough incoming business to sustain the staff. It was not a performance issue and now the department has a new product and production has increased which is why there was an opening.

Did you bother reaching out to the hiring manager or just let HR do the screening? The hiring manager can cut through HR if they are interested in bringing you back.

OP, no snark intended, but why would you apply for your exact same position at the exact same employer that you were let go from? It doesn’t make sense to me. If you had left of your own accord and were trying to come back I would understand but they left you.

Otherwise I see some very valid reasons why a former employee would not be considered.

  1. You were displaced for a reason. Unless there had been a change on your side then presumably the reason still existed and would be a negative for the employer.
  2. Meeting the minimum and desired requirements does not automatically mean you move to the head of the list of even more qualified applicants and should be interviewed. There could have easily been 100 applicants over and above the minimums and desired in line before you. Or simply far too many applicants and they have to draw the line somewhere.
  3. If rehired fairly quickly your previous time in service would carry over and be more costly to the company.

Yeah I’ve been there. I believe they don’t want former Wells Fargo employees to return.
