I know it’s really hard right now to stay positive in such a tumultuous and volatile workplace. If you haven’t been affected by surpluses yet I’m sure everyone here knows someone who has. Just know when one door closes, another one opens. You will land on your feet and find a company that values you as a person and your expertise. If not, create that job/workplace for others. It’s not your fault but we are witnessing poor leadership especially from the VPGMs and upper leadership. VPGMs will be on the block soon, their jobs are redundant and overpaid.

I’m positive that I work at a toxic, micromanaged, top down, incompetent leadership, of a company. Nuff said!

Congratulations!
OP, you’re not wrong.
It would be great to enjoy working at T but that’s not possible. The “leadership “ team is among the worst in T’s history.
Thank you
I’m positive that leadership doesn’t know what the he-l they are doing?
It’s the year to pull the retirement ripcord that’s for sure. Got told I’ll be having to move to Dallas this week. (I’m in Atlanta btw). Yay, I get to tell them no and get my severance. Time to retire. A bit earlier than I was wanting, but yeah, done and done. Time to liquidate some assets, reduce the debt to $0 and do something I’ll enjoy.
I am so glad and lucky I was laid off in 2018 and I was able to retire under the 75 rule to collect a pension at 55 years old. I was scared of my future without a job. My 401k was mostly all ATT stock and sold all of them for just over $27 a share and I came out with around $500,000 now 7 years later it grew to $1,500,000. Now between ATT pension, Social Security and dividends I make over $10,000 a month and my brokerage accounts keeps growing. Funny thing is I would have kept all my ATT stock and lost so much money if it wasn't for the layoff. Show ATT no loyalty because they have none for you!!
Corporations seek to bring out the best in employees so they can leverage it for profitability. We work in earnest hoping for success and promotion. Yet, the corporation owns the "house." They play the music and stop it when they want. And there are a few less chairs to grab when that happens. Losers need to leave.
T has been mismanaged for over the last 25 years. They never can get it right. On May 1, 1999 the stock was at $43.16. Today it's down 62.2% from that to $16.31. What does that say?
So the OP says "I know it’s really hard right now to stay positive in such a tumultuous and volatile workplace." No, you just work for the wrong company if you want a positive non-tumultuous and non-volatile workplace. And, it's the last thing from being enjoyable.
I’m older, many of my family and generation have already passed on. I’m reminded how short life is and that we are all accountable for ourselves in the end even, into the next life. It’s how one’s life is lived now that will affect the after. Rom 14:11
You know something OP, your exhortation brings to mind an old song entitled “Don’t’ Worry, Be Happy”. 😃
