Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Microsoft teams-byod

Once you have teams and Byof you are pretty much chained to work ..ICs don’t get BYOD…keep saying wifi is bad at home and want to stick to 9-5 schedule ..high performers voluntary put in extra hours…bank culture is definitely changing ..folks who are tech friendly and ready to run the extra mile create more value and hence getting assigned more work..those who are quiet quit are sitting on the sidelines..what have you seen?

You know which employees are prohibited by labor contract from being contacted off-hours? Indian workers. They literally have better work conditions in India than the US. They do this on purpose to get rid of American workers and transition WF to being an Indian bank with just it's top executives in the ivory tower of Hudson Yards.

Keeping the whole thing compliant is a headache with every iOS upgrade

Be confident that you are a professional by respecting your own boundaries first. It is absolutely ok to say no to something or even ignore something. Notice how you feel in the moment and make sure you are not slogging it out.

If you don't do this, only you will suffer. The company won't.

Best thing to do is to establish boundaries and do not answer calls in the evening unless your job already requires it. Otherwise if they realize they can reach you late and on weekends , then they will exploit it.

This is a legal nightmare for them. They can't MAKE you install anything on your personal phone (or home computer). They will pressure you and want you to volunteer to do it...but just dont do it!

I work from home. I purchased a refub iPhone from Amazon for a couple hundred bucks and have a decent pay as you go plan.

Why do this? So I do not co-mingle and so I can go fu-k off during the work day and be available if someone pings me.

This is Well Fargo not Goldman Sachs. If people here choose to be available 24/7, all I can say is Karma is a bi--h. A decade from now, the personal toll becomes apparent and that time will be forever gone.

Not saying 9-5 is the solution. Sometimes legitimate things do come up requiring extra effort.

I'm not available after hours. Period.

This is a bank. If I wanted to work evenings, I'd be a paramedic or something.

I can't imagine being chained to an...office job?!

Normal business hours only, and I don't apologize for it.

This is why no one should sign up for BYOD. If they really want to reach you after hours, they can provide a company cell. If they refuse, they don't NEED to reach you. Problem solved.
