Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Is the rest of the week safe?

I know it's not over, but I'm asking specifically about the rest of the week. If I'm not mistaken, the usual layoff days are Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Thursday, but it rarely lasts longer than two days any given week. Since we've had cuts for the past two days, I'm hoping that's it, and we can relax for a bit before it restarts.

There is a payroll reason for it: you're given 60 day notice and they want employees to have their last day on the payroll aligned with the payroll schedule. Payroll closes on the Saturday before your so-called payday. 60 days before the close of payroll Friday is always a Tuesday that follows an actual payday.

Anyone laid off outside that schedule is being laid off as an exception and not part of the bulk layoffs. The other reason they do the layoffs in bulk is they do a Zoom meeting with the laid off workers to tell them to sign up for resume building classes with some company that is paying Wells Fargo a finders fee, which that company gets when they place a WF worker with a new company.

So by that way, WF is actually getting paid by a 3rd party to do layoffs.

Tuesday's tend to be the big waves / layoff projects, but I've seen 100+ on other days as well. It can definitely happen. HY wants to make sure you live in fear 24/7/365, not just once every 2 weeks.

Bro did you see the amount allocated for layoffs this year? The chainsaw runs around the clock, we haven’t even seen the big moves yet

There are rare exceptions to layoff Tuesday. If you worked this week and your team was hit by layoffs, you are safe. If you are on leave or PTO they may still be tracking you down. If your team wasn’t hit on Tuesday there is still a possibility but it is very unlikely. Additionally, terminations for cause can occur anytime.
