Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

When is the best time to find a new job?

The short answer is while you are employed! So many of former Nike employees were loyal to an organization that never hesitated to give them their marching orders. If there an end in sight or this layoff was a one-off, perhaps this post could be considered harsh or even irrational. However, history proves otherwise. This organization, Nike, is a shadow of its former self and I am afraid things will only get worse from here. I am not even suggesting that you do something I have not done; only want to share with you that 2 years ago, I got so sick of the nonsense that went on at Nike especially with the clear lack of direction, lack of innovation, horrible culture, and clueless leadership. Therefore, I decided to do what I was best for me, which was to seek a better opportunity outside of Nike and save my mental health since I knew I was powerless in making any sort of felt change given the severity of the issues at Nike and the sociopaths grip of it at the top. Start your search now. Tap into your network. Find out what you value most. Be OK again - away from Nike. again, just sharing my thoughts and experience in case in may help even one person.

@rog+1rmrwflX You completely missed MY point. I never said quit or don’t quit, I said now isn’t the time to look regardless of if you have a job or not, and comparing to 2 years ago is arbitrary because the market has completely changed.

@tss+1rmrwflX, you completely missed the point. No one said, quit then look for a new job. OP simply said start looking WHILE you have a job.

Now Is a terrible market to find a job. Unemployment numbers are off because people have been unemployed for over a year and no longer counted. Recruiters are being spammed with ai applications so it’s impossible to apply and be seen. The process has everything in the world thrown at it- 9 rounds, essay questions and business cases, and everyone ghosts.

I get your sentiment but for real, Good luck out there.
