Hey whatever happened with all the work place 2020 ridiculous training as it was mandatory? Instead of being laid off, my bosses and nearly every exec that pumped this rhetoric is now off the books. Any 2020 folks still around?

Yep, DIY automation of day to day operations by non-programmers…what could go wrong? It’s not like we would cause an outrage running one of those Python or SQL scripts.
The training "investment" was actually an investment paying out severance costs
I took none of that training yet here I still am. Shows how unimportant it was.
It was used to keep employees busy and give the impression the AT&T gods cared.

Took all the training and got a couple nano degrees. Got certs in sql, python and a couple others. Despite all that, my job never changed (other than more work dumped on me). I think it was worthwhile for my own knowledge, but the company never took advantage of any of that. I tried to use those degrees and certs internally applying to roles and teams that I could us that stuff, but in all honesty, they aren’t worth the screenprint matrix dots on my screen. Never did get any roles with it.

over the years learned sql, m/dax, python..actually using them which is nice.
Did all of it. Still around, though strangely I was not writing code before 2020 and I am still not writing code today. I thought all of us were "pivoting". Interesting, I am not sure the Chief Pivot guy (Donovan) even made it to 2020 himself.
LOL, Back in 2015 or so, Randall was sending clear messaging that, if employees wished to be around for the long term, they should take training available within, or outside of the company. I took that to heart and it was on our performance review every year. I would ask my manager every year "What does our leadership encourage us to learn about?" And they never really provided an answer, so I tried anything I could think of.I took Python, Linux System Admin, Cloud something, etc., etc. over the next several years.
But so what? We weren't allowed to leave our group (easily) and ultimately using new skills wasn't possible. Even one gal at a Town Hall asked this very point from the audience "I have this new training/skill completed, I'd like to use it, but I can't, even temporarily, work in a different group to try it out!" And she got a 'Haa-Ru-p' from the executive, "Oh, that's a good point, we will work on that..."
Didn't matter. January 2019 came along and I was surplus'd.
It went the way of "get rid of workers and hire new ones in India"
