Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Returning Laptop

I am about to resign. I work from home and the only piece of WF-owned equipment I have is a laptop. I wanted to ask about the return process for this equipment.

Do I need to visit an office (the closest one to me is about 60 miles away, which is let's say very inconvenient), or is mailing it an option?

I assume the company will cover shipping costs, but I still should confirm.

I haven't resigned yet, which is why I am asking this question on the forum here.

I am transitioning to a small regional bank that has a page here on layoff.com, although posts are scarce. I will miss the passion that this board has. Good luck to everyone.

Politely pack away the laptop, related cables, and headsets. Include your employee badge and anything else they may need back. Usually they are only looking for the laptop but it's nice to just get rid of everything else too. Having old equipment from the last company is spooky. You can snap a photo of the shipping label or send a follow up e-mail with a tracking number to cover yourself when you ship it off. Congrats and enjoy a hopefully more peaceful work life.

When you resign, you can submit an MDT request to have them ship a box and prepaid label to your home address. When you get the box, you pack and drop off or schedule pickup.

Depending on your LOB, someone might do it for you (admin, offloading team or your manager).

Something to as as offboarding begins.

Congratulations for jumping off the stagecoach!

I resigned last month, made sure that they had my current address, personal email, etc, and haven’t heard a peep about returning my laptop, headset and badge. I suppose I’ll get a shipping box and instructions at some point. I too have old laptops and other equipment that prior employers never asked me to ship back, and I’d prefer not to add anymore to that collection! But until I get contacted, the stuff will sit here waiting. By the way, I’m so much happier to be away from that toxic place. I didn’t have a lot of tenure so no big severance to stick it out for, so leaving was a no brainer.

I still have 2 laptops from American Express. Left there 17 years ago. If WF wants it they will send for it.

Whatever receipt you get from the shipping process, be sure to KEEP it safe for a couple years, and take plenty of photos of the process

Others have covered the process, so I will just say congrats. Don’t be surprised if it takes weeks to get the shipping box. Not your problem. It’s on them.

They mail you a shipping box, packing supplies, and a pre-paid label. Then you simply call FedEx to have them pick it up at your house.
(I've done this twice as a remote worker.)

I was thrilled to see a post like this.
Congratulations! 🎉🎉🎉

Why not just ask that question when you resign?

Your LOB can issue a pre-paid Fed Ex label to you. Then go into Fed Ex with that laptop and send it back to WF.

Best wishes to you!

You don’t have to go into an office to return your equipment. Your manager can request that a box be shipped to your home with a return label and you can just ship it back in.

Good luck to you in your new position.
