Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Anyone else wear other brands?

This is probably a stupid question, but does anyone else wear other sports brands? I don't mean at work, but outside in day to day life. I'm always paranoid that I'm going to get "caught" wearing lulu or something outside of work.

One of my coworkers wore a Notre Dame hoody one day during March Madness and was sent home to change because it was an adidas school

I sometimes wear free samples of apparel, because the fleece is the only thing that is nice. I threw away all my uncomfortable Nike shoes (the Air Max ones squeak a LOT) when COVID hit, and it was going to be a while before having to go back to the campus.

Adidas Stan Smith and Cloud Foam is where it's at!

Wearing Lulu yoga pants right now, and I'll never stop wearing my slip-on Vans.

Wear what you like outside of work. At the office you will get odd looks if you wear competitor shoes. It will be awkward too if you go to the mall in a Puma hoodie and run into your leadership. It’s like this with any consumer brand. If you work at Levi’s you aren’t wearing Lee or Wrangler or xyz to work.

I have a wide foot sand like to run trails-year round.
Solomon make the best trail shoes hands down.
Nike are cr-p…I’ve tried them and they always lack traction when it matters the most.

It has always been difficult for me to find a pair of Nike shoes that are comfortable. When I was able to WFH I would wear my Fit Flops. Now that I have to go back to the office I have 1 pair of OK Nikes but my feet hurt after a few hours. The apparel I love. I would not spend my $ on a competitive brand due to the cost.

My first 20 yrs only Nike. And wouldn’t let my family have anything else. Last 5…..Nike at work, HOKA at home. And yes I’m a shareholder. Just cause I’m a shareholder doesn’t mean I should have to wear uncomfortable narrow running shoes just because Nike walked away from runners. When we actually start caring for runners again maybe I’ll switch back. Btw. HOKA soooo comfortable. And widths always available. It’s not brain surgery.

I wear Nike shoes to work some days. Other days I wear other brands (non-competitors). My personal style is not super-athletic so I'd look and feel weird if I went all-Nike for apparel. That being said when I'm at home I'm usually in Nike sweats.

@1gvf+1rJ9f4eC hmmm.... I do own shares but I have knee pain and when go for climbing, I need Columbia shoes... There are a lot of activities and daily life needs that Nike does not have a shoe for it... Like car racing, climbing, dancing, partying... It is stupid to think we have to wear Nike even outside of work

I would wear a shirt with JDs face on it, underneath in Nike Font: “Remember, you asked for this”

From what I understand you can't be fired for wearing competitors merchandise. Nike doesn't provide uniforms and you can claim you can't afford nike merchandise even with the discount. You'll be under a microscope but you won't be fired for wearing hoka, lulu, etc. They will find something else to fire you over if you continue though! I have seen Hokas/sketchers on feet in the office and my manager once brought her lunch in a lulu bag.

Socks every day. Even on campus.

Puma, Nike, & every other apparel retailer buy from the same factories. No way I’m spending $10 a pair for a half inch swoosh no one will see.

Our markup on them is insane even with the employee discount.

Your 1st day of orientation should have covered this topic. Perhaps you don't remember? If you are still employed with Nike you need to be loyal to the brand and wear the Swoosh during work as well as outside of Nike on your personal time.

I got laid off in February and just donated all my Nike gear this weekend. It felt very freeing! Now I don’t have to pretend that I like those ugly shoes. 😂

And as for the clothes, all I can say is that I hope someday there are Nike designers who know how to design for a woman’s body.
