Why is the San Antonio collection call center offering all this ETIME/ able to leave the day with vacation pay or without pay nearly every day? WHAT’S really happening?

This sounds like they are already sending a percentage of your work and calls somewhere else and they are wanting your group to assist in proving that they can do without you..

DON'T FALL FOR IT !!

Don't take any e-time, don't even take vacation time unless you absolutely must. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to have a decent and relaxing work load.

Easy work load won't last forever so enjoy it while it exists and for heavens sake don't help them prove your group is not needed.

Does anyone actually believe the company doesn’t already have a good idea of call volumes, work content those calls entail, etc? They don’t need documented e-time to see if a location is over staffed. Remember some outside groups who were instructed to go to training if they didn’t have work. Only so much training available. Works well in the beginning of the year but you can only do defensive driving so many times during the year before it is noticed.

Just say NO, do training or ask your manager for guidance but don’t take E or Surp time. It’s your job that you may save because once they cut, Humpty Dumpty doesn’t go back together again.

Exactly this. ^^^

They're looking to see how many employees that location really requires and will use the e-time metrics to justify cutting headcount.

This is why we frown on coworkers who want to take e-time or LOA at all. Especially those with high seniority as they know they won't be the ones who get cut. ( But too short sighted to understand they'll be left with 2x the work )

E-time? Interesting. Remember when it wasn’t allowed. You could give extra paid time but unless it was contractual non paid time you were told to find busy work. Didn’t want it to show up on the books. Wonder if all this work is moving overseas. Believe Dallas had a center. Are some of those calls being funneled there?

One day you will go in and there are no calls and you will be sent home for good. Right now what you are seeing is the slow transitioning of calls to India or wherever. Every single US-based call center job is a dead job at this point. All these jobs have been moving to cheaper labor for over 25 years now but eventually, AI will replace 90-95% of all call center jobs in the end. The only reason it has probably taken AT&T so long to make the switch is the unions but they can’t even stop it now.
