Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Manager responses

I know there's articles from HR that tell managers how to speak to people on certain sensitive topics such as layoffs.

If any of leaders are on here, and you're not disclosing that, you're a sellout to WF, and are a sh---y person.

There's a big difference between individual layoffs (deciding to displace a single employee) and large layoffs. For individual layoffs, middle managers are involved and actually voting on who should be laid off (this was true for the department i left). For large layoffs, managers may not know until the day before.

Nothing is administered consistently across this company. But if low and mid-mangers know as you stated, I guess my team and I are safe for a while because we know nothing

Mid and lower management knows weeks ahead. We were asked weeks ahead to make a list of what we were doing, what we were in charge of. 1:1 meetings were being canceled. Sure they know. They also go through training.

Most mid and lower level managers are just as in the dark

My manager has been brutally honest with my team about all of this. Mad respect for her.

That’s a rough, nonsensical sentence there OP. Seems like you’re an accurate target for whatever you’re raging about.

If the inference you are making is that someone withholding information from you at Wells is bad, you clearly have no grasp of what it means to be in leadership anywhere.

Good luck to the next dump that has to employ you.

best case scenario for us low level managers on any type of news/communication is a days notice. In most cases we get something after hours before warming us if a communication that is going out. Don't hate the messenger

Low level managers are no different than the even lower minions. Front line managers only disseminate info given to them by upper echelons. That info is only given to the managers immediately at the time it needs to be put out. Low level managers are just mouth pieces. In most cases they are good, nice people but have no real power to do anything. All real authority comes from on high......

They don't tell the low/mid managers until right before they have to turn around and tell their peeps. It's the upper management and executive types that are 'in the know' way in advance, along with a bunch of a holes in HR and CPG.
