“Tech companies … made cuts to DEI programs in 2023”

Good news. We can dream that WFC follows suit:

Former team member here, curious about what's been happening with DE&I since I was liberated a few months back. A lot of comments in this thread have been removed, unsurprisingly. I believe there's been some reorganization (i.e., reduction and/or consolidation), and that LR is no longer with Wells? What about KF? I'm not interested in a discussion of the merits of the efforts either way -- I just want to know what Wells in particular has been doing, given that some companies have begun scaling back their efforts in this space.

They could fire all the DEO people and just send out automated monthly emails to employees that say:

"Reminder: don't be a bigot. It's often illegal in the workplace and always makes you sound like an a--hole."

That would literally accomplish the same thing and save the company a fortune.

And yes, it all sounds racist, but the racism and bigotry in WF employees who write here, is rampant. How do you all look at yourselves in the mirror? What do you tell your children? Who are your friends ? Have you no shame?

DEI conceptually is important. But how most companies socialize and implement it makes it unsuccessful. The messaging has been poor, and at best garbled.
If everyone realizes and sees that there is fairness in hiring, in promotions, in hr practices, that even if diverse candidates are sought out, they will be hired only on merit and nothing else, that no non-diverse candidate will be replaced by a diversity candidate merely due to the DEI stamp, that diversity refers not just to color and race, but refers to and includes diverse ways of thinking and all else that focus on diversity just not for show, but for business success - then companies will be successful.

DEI is racist.

Well based on many of the comments here , which could be construed as racist, just shows that DEI does not work. There is no evidence or meaningful measure on how it works or benefits technology or any other part of the company. Just headcount of minority groups is not DEI. Celebrating all the various groups and waving of flags and wearing rainbow colored lanyards and pronoun declarations does not make DEI work. It’s a fad that was brought about by “woke” people and unwoke people.

"A vocal minority stay irrelevant, no matter how loud they shout."

Only someone with privilege would say this.

Alvin Lee said it best in his song “I would love to change the world”. Nothing new here. This is from the 70’s. As much as things change, they stay the same. A vocal minority stay irrelevant, no matter how loud they shout. Another short lived show and tell with nothing accomplished. A financial company should function and focus on initiatives related to the products it provides. Chainsaw had to over play his hand due to putting his foot in his mouth even though what he said was a factual statement. Woke mob will become powerless and irrelevant as time passes.

It seems like people have made pretty good arguments for why DEI is a waste of time and resources in this thread. Why not engage with those comments and create an argument in favor of it, rather than just insulting a poster?

Every DEI thread is the same, the one MAGA troll goes off about his replacement theory fears. Such a one-dimensional poster.

For the DEI defenders (are there any left?), I'm going to ask a question I've asked many people and for which I've yet to receive a response: Name a single quantifiable benefit that DEI programs have created that justifies their existence in terms of cost, staffing, etc.

"You realize that WF DE&I is a complete joke"

I totally agree with your DEI assessment, it is a joke, a very bad joke!
Unfortunately, whether it be 100 people (to placate the far-left American traitors) or 10,000 people (there may be one out there), this bad joke has been taken to the extreme and now infects almost every institution in America. Just look at the three CEO’s (Harvard, MIT, Penn, all DEI hires) who recently testified before Congress and failed miserably at putting any credible statements together to defend their horrible positions on the hearings subject matter.
These are the people responsible for the education of the next American generation. There is no hate of DEI. There doesn’t have to be. It is slowly passing into oblivion leaving only the hate for what it has done to our American institutions.

DEI is, and always has been, a shakedown. Every business should hire the best person available. Black, white, green. It doesn't matter. There are racists that want to promote whites because of their skin color. But calling it DEI to promote a black person because of their skin color doesn't make it any less racist.

Much like the global climate scam, DEI is about big corporations paying off nefarious groups for political cover. How many race baiters have become as wealthy as Al Gore. But the rest of us are left divided, feeling like victims in one way or the other.

You realize that WF DE&I is a complete joke only so we can keep "I would love to hire black people but there are just none qualified" on his throne. And I hate to break it to you our DE&I has like 100 employees.

You do not even need to be good at math to realize 100 people in an org of 250K is not really the issue. Maybe you hate DE&I so much because whats in the mirror. DE&I at WF is lipstick on a pig - lets start with salary and bonus equity and stop allowing the important people to hire their friends versus actually hire the right people.

"...or you argue that it's all "just chance" and that everyone is where they are by "merit" and then when you look at the numbers you're actually racist yourself for believing that white people just happen to dominate."

I guess we're just going to ignore demographics? Pop quiz, which ethnic groups "dominate" Japan's economy? How about India? How about Egypt? See where this is going? Alrighty then. If you want to talk about racism, go ahead and explain why it's 'good' when certain groups "dominate" an economy, in, say, Africa, but it's NOT 'good' when another group "dominates" in Europe?

Here in the US there are almost double the number of poor white people vs poor black people as measured by the poverty line, and yet we're supposed to believe that "white people" are some kind of block of success. It's an argument based on a lie (or ignorance / inability to use Google, I suppose). There are many millions of poor people, and each has a unique story and causes for why they are there. Stereotypes and assumptions aren't helpful, and in fact when policy is based on them cause more harm than good.

you either have to accept that people in charge are racist and hire other white people when given the chance, or you argue that it's all "just chance" and that everyone is where they are by "merit" and then when you look at the numbers you're actually racist yourself for believing that white people just happen to dominate. DE&I is necessary like unions are necessary, because even if the system isn't flawed on paper corrupt people take advantage of it, but don't worry, the people in power (white men) will cry and pi-s their diapers enough that it won't make any difference. Well done everyone!!!!

When did it become law not to discriminate against others, than white men. Yes, in 1964. And many states have reinforced or made it even more stringent in that direction. Where is the law that states that other than white men not be hired? 1964 was a long time ago. Banking may now be an industry that actually has in management more other than white men than not white men. If not, it will be in short time as many other than white men are in the pipeline. Time to stop living in the 1980s. Your argument, if not now passe, will be completely in a very short time. I get your point, but seriously, DEI is well overdone as a cooked meal.

The fact that WF is making DEI cuts, re-enforces the fact that WF NEVER cared about DEI to being with.

They never cared about it because it is an empty suit department. If it does anything it does damage to the possible hiring people of skill, as those who get hired are hired out of color or other, not skill. The vast majority of people are not so stupid that they can't see this. What is funny is that those who take careers in DEI actually believe that they are either doing something legit and worthy or believe that others actually believe that they are. Personally, I want to see people hired based upon skill, nothing else, no matter the color or other. If 50 people get interviewed for 10 openings and all hired are non WMs, but were the best qualified, then so be it. But I want DEI and their corrupt minds to stay as far away from the process as possible. I never believed nor will I believe what they have been selling or will be.

That's a whole lot of stereotyping and generalization, which is exactly the circumstances when societies run into issues. Every person is an individual and every case (hiring, promotions, terms, whatever) is unique. Automatically leaping to conclusions about millions of such situations when you have no first hand knowledge of them is ridiculous. Speaking of su-king at jobs. Whew. Projection is a thing, yo.

I’m a white male and see first hand that white men are hired based on potential not skill. Let’s not pretend that the majority of you don’t su-k at your jobs. It’s pretty embarrassing for you to think that only YOU earned your spot and everyone else must be DE&I. And no I’m not a leftist either, I’m just someone with eyes and a brain and see through your Ignorance. 2024 displacement can’t come soon enough. Rid this company of your entitled attitude.

The minorities I hired through targeted DEI hiring are poor workers and will be the first to go with next year’s layoff. The minorities I hired through normal competitive hiring are good (because they earned their qualifications).
