Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Jeremy Legg’s Wave 2 impacted workers:

153 people in Wave 1 made the decision to follow the work. 108 people (about 70%) have not moved or plan to move, with the exception of perhaps the occasional commute. Legg's leadership has repeatedly stated that they have no interest in reviewing RTO reports. Remember that in order to prevent discrimination claims, the corporation must be consistent and apply disciplinary action or termination to all employees. Now do with that information what you will.

While you claim it indicates a mass ignoring of RTO moves, it really indicates the deadline for many wave 1 people hadn't hit yet. See what the number is in 6 months.

All the people I know who got letters were told to report 1/2/2024. That date has passed.

I wonder what the age breakdown was for the people that either did or did not move. Look for the older ones that did move to be re-orgged into another group that has no future here.

If Steve Irwin was still alive he would have this to say:
Here we find in the wild a rare specimen, "corporate sycophantis". These blokes follow their leader blindly into danger and secrete a noxious substance on their path. Their colorful markings and carefully worded ,yet tired rhetoric often fool the productive members of the troop, for this is their prey.
They are easily spooked and often will regurgitate company talking points and fling fe--s at anyone who challenges their shakey branch in the corporate tree.

What risk?
They’re going to fire people who they were going to fire if they didn’t move anyway?
What are we worried about? The AT&T police or some COBC violation?
What will that do? How many of these people ever plan to work for AT&T again? None, is the answer.
Sc--wing over AT&T will hurt 0 job prospects in the future for people who choose to do so.
“I got fired because I didn’t move 1000 miles”
Oh ok, let’s talk about systems design now.

Literally no one of any substance cares.

Wave 1 people moved, on their dime to be laid off 30 days later. AT&T is no longer a company that cares about their employees. All of those leaders? They were eliminated a couple years ago. The ones who fought for their people. Now just a bunch of “yes men” in suits bowing down to the board. Why would they care? They will retire with millions in bonuses at the expense of others. May their conscious sear their minds when they are still.

I would have chosen "will follow" and then not moved, if not for severance. I was fortunate/unfortunate to have been at AT&T for decades and old, so I passed MR 75 easily.

you're repeating numbers Jeremy gave out at the RTO wave 2 townhall on January 22nd.

Good luck with that one.

They're probably cool with you working from home as long as you show in office and pay city taxes.

You could have just said you’re going to move and just….not like what a lot of these people are doing…

What exactly are you saying? That all these people will be fired since they probably aren’t actually going to move, or are you saying that they can probably flaunt the rules and just remain where they are?
