Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The only skill that matters for T is if you can come to the office3-5 days a week. No other skills matter per RTO and WHWW policy.

Truth! The people in Business Customer Sales & Service group are about as d-mb as you can get. They surplussed some really talented people to keep those in the favorite hubs and even hired some in those hubs that have zero idea what they are doing. VP is a joke and has her favorites she rewards as always. Just look at diamond club winners- same ole same ole. Anyone surprised? She employs id--ts running her staff and encourages deceit while having zero idea on how to coach and lead an ethical and empowering team. Everyone is petrified of this leader and no one does a darn thing to stop her antics. They should cut that VP loose for sure. Moral is at an all time low and her lack luster communications she sends out are laughable. Women for sure run from this team…you are not an asset to her so you will be treated like dirt.

It makes me think if you don't even have the skill to show up at your job when you are scheduled to, that you probably don't have any other "skills" either, and certainly don't have any job experience.

Collaboration and meetings in person are a critical and needed requirement for most T positions. Don't like it? Leave.

Hey a.s.s...hat, you must be Smbar. Yes, we are leaving. Will tell everyone not to use T and not be employed at at T

  • “Anyone else hear that they haven’t even been able to obtain the reports for RTO since Workday was implemented?”

I have heard this, but haven’t confirmed it.
Wouldn’t surprise me, the level of incompetence here with software is unreal. We have some good devs, but most leave fairly quickly and the company is really really bad at singling out the actually talented ones.

This whole RTO push has made quite a few leave as well, overall it’s a pathetic legacy company with antiquated processes that refuses to change for the better and retaining talent real these days like that is basically impossible.

I legit don’t go into the office and have never heard anything and I know for a fact that they don’t have the capabilities to track vpn so coffee badgers are safe for the foreseeable future.

Fu-k’em is what I say.

Nailed it…if your job is cleaning toilets then you need to meet your plunger in person.

Never had a fully in-person meeting in my 3+ yrs here and never will since my team is spread all over the place and most of my work is with outside vendors. Never even met my boss in person. And yet I’ve managed to win multiple connection awards, get strong ratings and all that. I guess my whole team should leave then.

No one cares what you do in the office as long as you show up occasionally. There aren’t enough conferences rooms to have in person meetings so teams calls with folks on the same floor. The rto goal is to end the pension contributions for those that still have it. S has been gunning for that his whole time in leadership.

No skills? No problem. Just pop up in the hub 3 to 5 days a week and you will be rewarded. We have to support commercial real estate. Maybe next step for T is to invest in melting ice cube and buy some real estate in order upload it later with big loss. T is good at this.

  • “A year in on RTO and the butt hurt is still strong. Amazing how many as adults believe their tactics they used as children to whine until they got their way will work in a professional environment.”

It’s 2024, haven’t you seen Tik-Tok? The way to get your way with the C-Suite class is to bi--h and moan publicly til it becomes cheaper for them to just give in than it is for them to keep fighting.

There’s nothing overpaid execs hate more than bad PR and everyone hating them denting their over-inflated ego.

I dunno about a year in, and most people are mad about relocating.
Hasn’t been a year for me at least, I’ve gone in like maybe 30-40 times max the past year?

Still got multiple connection awards.
Still got a big bonus
Still got an exceeds rating
Still getting a big raise

How many times have you had to go in?
Seems my strat is working well for me, since actual high performing technical people are rare at T.

  • “The bar is set pretty low. If you have education and technical skills then you are no value for T. What matters is if you can come to the office to drink their cool aid.”

Come to the office, use ChatGPT is really all you need to excel at AT&T according to upper management.
They think ChatGPT is the second coming of Christ and it will bail them out of the massive debt hole they’re in.

TC here is actual dog water for devs compared to other companies of similar market cap.
Hilarious they expect us to relocate on our own dime while Amazon and other companies offer tens of thousands in relocation packages for new hires.

Comical, what mo--ns.

Are they though?
Cause I’m in the office once in awhile and we still all meet on Teams…
I haven’t had an in-person meeting for Software in 3+ years and we’ve saved the company millions with the software we’ve written automating away manual processes.

So is it, really????

Also, garbage stock, look at market look at T lul.
Imagine being a dev and bending over backwards moving, going into the office, etc when you could make 10X at basically any other tech company that gives RSU’s.
Actually hilarious that upper mgmt expects this from talent.

I believe it. I’m mobility FE, can’t get anyone to actually do their job anymore. Emails, phone calls and projects go unanswered. No one cares. No ones at the controls. Buck doesn’t stop anywhere.

Gotta be good at bootlicking too. That's how you get to a position like Bonnie's being Legg's right hand person.

All the "Can they do that?" comments are people practicing if you couldn't notice.
