Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Sometimes I wish this place would put me out of my misery

This place honestly su-ks. I continue to work here because I can’t find a job that’ll pay me as much money, but Jesus Christ… I sometimes question if the fat paycheck is worth all of the id--tic garbage that we’re forced to deal with. This place is a miserable work environment. It’s stressful. There’s no culture to speak of… and we have Uncle Chuckles just sitting on his throne in Hudson Yards collecting millions per year. This place is some kind of sick clown show and lately, I often wonder what I (or any of us) have given up by dedicating ourselves to this meaningless bull waste.

OP, a piece of advice. Stop listening to the corporate types. If they are OC-1 or above, simply ignore them. Don't read the emails and never attend the useless townhalls or quarterly/monthly meetings. All they will do is raise your blood pressure. These clowns are temporary anyway, no one really cares what they think, say, or do, so forget about them and focus on yourself, your team, and your specific jobs. The people at the top are actively trying to get under your skin so you quit without getting severance. Don't give them that power. I started tuning them out about a year ago and it has really helped my mental health and just my overall attitude at work.

All that said, F them for RTO, that's a crime that will never be forgiven.

Stop wishing and start acting! Only you have total control of your career choices. Only you know how much grief and misery you can take in what you describe as a "miserable work environment". Only you have the power to decide is any amount of money worth what you describe as "i d i o t i c garbage forced on you".

In other words it's all on you!

Good luck!

I wait and hope for severance as I already have a career change lined up. If it doesn’t come by June I will leave. It is better to do something you enjoy rather than sticking with this $hit show and the stress it brings

I read (and wrote one myself) a post like this with regular frequency. I'm still grappling with the obvious choice for my values and sanity, but also have been broke before and that is much worse than dealing with the mindfu-k here, so I’m still here. It su-ks, but hopefully I’ll be able to save aggressively and find a cheaper country to retire early to. That’s what keeps me going. The hope of leaving on my terms and living a more carefree life while I’m still young enough to enjoy life.

I wish us all the best.

I completely agree. But it's a a matter of who blinks first -- and you're so close.

You've clearly earned severance pkg given what you've been through. Don't blink first. Remind yourself of the paid time off ahead, even if you spend most/all of it looking for a new job. You'll be free of WF.
