Supervisors with Virtual Worker (TW) Status

There are many supervisors (Director & Associate Director) that have received Virtual Worker (TW) designation. How is this possible? The "How & Where We Work" FAQ states that the criteria for a "Virtual" designation is an individual contributor role that does not require collaboration. This clearly precludes supervisors from being "Virtual", yet they are.

These supervisors have already or will soon be informing their reports that they must either move on their own dime or they will lose their jobs. Imagine the unmitigated gall of these supervisors working comfortably from remote locations in collaborative roles while mandating their reports in less collaborative roles upend their lives for the opportunity to potentially keep their jobs.

Their arrogance and insensitivity lack no bounds. These "managers" do not know the first thing about managing people. They are unrespectable l-wlifes.

" individual contributors are the biggest drag on the company."

Individual Contributors are the ones that do actual work. That's like saying you can build a building with just managers with clipboards because you need to get rid of the construction workers because they are a drag on the construction company.

Because the Death Star calls all "Exempt" employees "Managers", there has to be a distinction between those that manage people, and those that don't manage people, hence "individual contributor".

I was going to say the distinction between those that manage people, and those that actually work, but my supervisor/people manager works his a-s off.

my god individual contributor. haven't heard that term since I joined the real work world and left the cesspool.

let me guess the individual contributors are all in security. I see nothing has changed and as long as that cr-p continues att will go nowhere. individual contributors are the biggest drag on the company.

but probably when everyone is an individual contributor in the company and there are no working people in the company their time will come.

"I don't say that in a prudish manner. It's literally what Legg said yesterday when he addressed this exact question."

Hey, that was my question! And, being the only one in one of the cities, and my teammates in other cities, I'm concerned that I'm going to be the one "tweaked". I'd hope they would move me to another team that is in my hub, but, well, this is AT&T. Its possible they will want the whole team in our target city, but if they try that, they are going to lose 90% of the team. Of course, again, this is AT&T, so they won't care.

My supervisor is in a completely different state than his entire team. I'm alone in a separate state with no co-workers or anyone to collaborate with. I've been telecommuting for decades with no issues. Now I am forced into the office (where I talk to no one) and he stays home. Stupid.

It sounds like wave 3 is supposed to address that. You'll have the option of moving to your supervisor's office, or voluntarily quitting.

I don't say that in a prudish manner. It's literally what Legg said yesterday when he addressed this exact question.

Or other managers that aren’t co-located with anyone on their teams. Just as bad. But hey, if you can swing it, why not. IMHO if you manage a team, you need to be where the team is or where the majority of your team is.

You do realize if you post the names of the supervisors in question, something will be done.
Say something and make the world a better place or be afraid all the time

Yes, it’s d-mb.
They should be handing those virtual designations out to high performing individual contributors.

Another d-mb move by upper management. The idiocy knows no bounds.
