I just can’t stand corporate speak. I think mgmt is continuing to use it out of habit and self-importance. It made sense some time ago while there was still a pretense that a company is an organization, that there are sensible goals beyond cooking the Q reports and share price, and that we are members of a team and valued as professionals. These days, when everything is bare bones, as in nothing and nobody matters but the short term money grab on the top, it all sounds so silly.

Working at Truist I learned the actual definition of “purpose". It stands for an executive team, unconstrained by any performance expectations, laying off employees to enrich themselves while fleecing shareholders. So yes, Truist is in fact a “purpose” driven bank.
