Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Location Strategy

If I'm within 30 miles of an approved speciality hub for my LOB (non core hub) but I'm still 100% remote, can I ask from my location to be switched from remote to the speciality hub to avoid layoffs? Also, why hasn't it switched from remote to the speciality hub yet? The notice last week states the approved specialty hubs will continue to be used along side the core hubs.

This is a solid summary of what's going on, and how ridiculous and arbitrary these decisions are. If some temporary id--t exec in NYC likes Minneapolis, they can make all their people move/work there for literally no other reason than just a personal preference. Then, 6 months later the exec leaves anyway for a 20% bump from a competitor.

This company needs to stop throwing away 95% of the candidate pool for no reason. Je--s these people are d-mb. Hudson Yards doesn't care about data and will be completely shocked when they wind up with a non competitive workforce. They'll be useless, but dang it, they'll be useless in the right city! 😐

"what is oc+1?"

A direct report of an operating comm member, e.g. saul's direct reports

"If I have an approved accomodations to work remote due to my accomodations can I still be asked to RTO?"

If you are within 40 miles of a go-forward enterprise location, and you have an approved accom you will not be asked to RTO until such time as your accommodation expires.

@1vnr+1qFmDtX7 - also they are not using that location to backfill any jobs. They are only retaining jobs in that location and backfilling in primary hubs.

@1vnr+1qFmDtX7 - there is definitely an admin building within 30 miles of me that my LOB uses but it's not used by anyone within 3 managers over me. Going further up, 4 managers over me we have about 50-100 people in that location under my LOB.

Seems like it won't be an option for me in that case as nobody within 3 levels over me is using that space.

It would definitely have to be the identified admin building. Also, if you ask to be reassigned from remote to an admin building, you'll now be subject to RTO. Maybe you don't care about that and you just want to keep you job, which I commend. But you can't be assigned to a building and not RTO. You'll be flagged.

each market has designated buildings for non-customer facing staff. you don't get a choice - it will be assigned.

The grace period after notification to RTO hasn't been finalized, but they are talking about 60 days to be fully compliant in my area. that doesn't mean start coming in at 60 days after notification and ease yourself up to 3 days - it means fully compliant. It hasn't been published yet though. YMMV

If there are 2-3 locations in your closest hub where there are team members, how do they decide which office to put you in and how easy is it to change offices (proving there are team members in the other office) in that case?

What would a grace period look like when they notify people (ex. you have 3 months to come in, etc)

It's not quite as simple as those on the thread have answered.

first, given what's going on right now, the normal "your manager can do it with 2-up approval" doesn't apply at present. so just ignore those answers.

Each OC+1 leader picks the markets they want to be in. So it depends not only on how close you live to the specialty market location but whether your OC+1 leader has chosen to hire or maintain staff in that specific market. the designation of "specialty" means only that they can if they want to - it doesn't require them to.

If your OC+1 leader is allowing hiring or maintaining staff in the location you are near - you don't have to do anything. you'll be called back into the office by the "RTO machine". Notifications will be in february.

If your OC+1 leader doesn't want staff in that market you will be notified of "relocate or be displaced" in one of those "waves"

@lwt+1qFmDtX7 - I will, thank you. I'm pretty sure it can be done.

OP , why don’t you ask your manager? That’s where the process has to start. Nothing is automatic.

@lsp+1qFmDtX7,
It also requires HR’s approval. A team member’s realignment was multiple times by HR, until it was finally approved.

In Workday your manager can change your work location from remote to an approved work location but it also requires your manager’s manager approval in Workday.
