I would not wait around for another 5 years. AEP is full of nepotism and always had been. 5 years becomes 10. From my experience do not tell anyone of your goals or aspirations. AEP is full of arrogsnt leaders that will take offense to you wanting to better yourself. Retaliation is real and awarded. Do not count on it willgst better. Time is important. I would have been able to supportmy family better if I did not believe in AEP lies and acknowledgef that the lesdershop there did not value me. This occured before Bill.

You should absolutely upskill, if not to move up at AEP, then to move to another company.

AEP before this had a fairly strong promote from within culture. And it makes sense, the compensation just isn’t there to attract superstars from other industries.

Bill is here because of Icahn’s reps on the board. And Icahn won’t be here for very long. Bill himself is older and the lieutenants he brought over are older too. They were brought in to stabilize the company to win some rate cases and up operational performance. Those guys won’t be here in 5 years. Who is that going to leave, but the talent already in house.

Be patient!

@2wjr Upskilling at AEP is great when AEP is paying for it. They also make you more likely to stick around during layoff periods when the next Velma from Scooby Doo shows up to bring their retail store mastery and bad midleg odor to the IT systems at coal plants and transmission lines and nuclear generation.

Destroying an organization's cultural history and legacy is the first step to destroying an organization's identity. Removing over a 100 years of AEP history from the lobby of 1 RP was damnatio memoriae. Demoralize, indoctrinate, incentivize assimilation and you have subjugated the organization you have invaded. It is the resistance to assimilation that makes us AEP and not Bill's servile lackeys. Resist subjugation or become serfs in Bill's feudal kingdom. He has already chosen his royalty and now he seeks to squeeze the value out of his subjects.

There is no point in upskilling at AEP. You are better off getting on a PIP. Turn it around snd the management will love it. They will oat themselves on the back for being great managers. You will have a lot more opportunity then someone working hard. This is AEPs culture. Wish I new this a decade ago.

Stop whining people. I understand you need to get things off your chest but this thread has gotten ridiculous. You all just parrot each other over and over. Use this thread to pass on real information. This thread has gotten way out of hand. Use it to be productive. Holy cow I didn’t get on here for awhile and came back to this. Talk about a disappointment.

Is there any point to upskilling, except to leave? Upper mgmt doesn't hire from within. They hire people they knew before, and those people haven't done ANY of this successfully before.
I feel like I'm at a Nascar race in a go-cart.

Sounds like AEP is hemorrhaging employees and new hire transfusions are not working. The corporate greed is like gangrene poisoning the company culture and employees are fleeing to escape the inevitable death and damnation we are being led to by a false shepherd. Bill is digging like a gold miner with a raging gold fever and all employees are going to be left with is the empty shaft that entombs them in their mass grave. Criminals do not like loose ends and at this point employees are just loose ends.

One CEO and his major shareholders are overwhelmingly outnumbered by their marks. The solution to the problem is numbers have always been their strength and now it is their greatest weakness. Solving the equation just requires subtracting the smaller sum from the greater sum, problem solved.

The deadbeats are on the way out. A few will be back because they always have a small comeback after the success or recovery of a Republican economy. RTO stinks but hey the deadbeats are on the way out. Especially the AOC types

I dont understand the soyboy comment. AEP is a leftist company thst had quotas for positions and heavily promoted DEI. Even the so called republican managers were sh---y Republicans. They had no valyez or dignity. As Mr. Kirk would say do goid instead of feeling good. As a formet employee and a Republican AEP leadership did not match my values.

Big ups to those who cowardly put high marks on their surveys to quote "avoid drama". You have done a great service to your immediate teammates who want to use it as a mechanism to improve their situation. Oh, fear of retaliation? Now the lone wolves that voiced their honest opinions are singled out.

But let's all get back to talking about that medical episode conspiracy to dodge the hard hitting questions about where the new office will be.

Actually you can just look at the score card and see that the earnings target is weighted 16.67% of the ICP.

@2w51 The value of ICP is inversely proportional to earnings. The more the company earns the smaller the ICP because shareholder value is the only metric relevant to the CEO's compensation. Why can't AEP retain employees under the age of 50? Because there is no stakeholder value, no team spirit and no morale. The future is tomorrow and young employees are looking 30 years into the future to measure their success against the success of previous generations. Despite being a electric utility their future is not bright.

Reality TV has nothing on AEP. I am surprised Jerry Springer was not the moderator. In the future only those paid actors hired to attend, will be allowed in employee meetings. If you are incapable of achieving it then just fake it. The only reality exists in your own mind.

After seeing our RTO plans. I am 100% convinced this has nothing to do with collaboration or anything beneficial. It's only about getting people to quit without having to do payouts.. That or we are ran by complete mo--ns. This all about making everyone miserable.
