I’m hearing from my local management that DTV techs are going to be eliminated completely to contractors.
Anyone hearing the same or is this just local rumor mill?

"I’m too craft at about 50 an hour and I don’t think that’s great."
I'm pretty pro-craft but you're gonna need to check that privilege asap bruh...It's god damned amazing making $50 an hour.
Wire techs have been getting the shaft since the beginning. The Union has been able to make incremental gains each contract but it’s a slow process. Only way out is to transfer but that is next to impossible these days.
@ywe+1q4ARnDb, what awesome pay? I’m too craft at about 50 an hour and I don’t think that’s great. In fact, with inflation, that ain’t sh!t. College kids are starting out at Google making more than we are. What world are you living in?
Get yourself surplussed and enjoy $14 an hour at a local telecomm with your skillset, if you can find one.
If you went to College and had the skills to work for Google, you would not be here.
“ I’m too craft” Cool stage name. Do you and MC Bedazzle perform at Hobby Lobby?

Another reason to get rid of Directv. Over the years with various house moves I had nothing but trouble with Directv contractors and more than once demanded a company employee which delayed my install. Then there was the time I needed service and throughout the day was given eta’s until late in the day when I called cuz no one had showed up and they said oh, everyone has gone home for the day…will need to reschedule! Greatest end to that story was Directv/ATT gave me a $60 a month credit for a year. $720 wasn’t bad for a problem that fixed itself! Only reason I have kept is so the hubby can get NHL network in a method that isn’t streaming. Ahh, someday I will be rid of them for good
Union techs are done. New contracts will only address pay and medical, zero job security. Contractors are the ultimate future for T.
Well, if one observes trends with AT&T, one will discern that non bargained jobs are going overseas. This is not just the future of these jobs but the reality of these jobs now.
I'll take my chances with the Union these days.
Funny to hear techs think they are untouchable lol. Can’t wait to hear you asking people if they want to supersize their order. Entitled with limited skills…
Been hearing the same d-mb sh-t for 23 years and still paying my dues to receive my awesome pay with plenty of time off, OT when I want, break time when I feel like, etc. The union is going nowhere. Be jelly all you want! Nana boo boo. 😒
Not true at all, company is still hiring union technicians in D7, plenty of work to go around and positions are even being back-filled!

DTV is still a thing?
Going to be plenty of core jobs in construction to bid on . The fiber expansion is coming.Already some posted in D3
Techs still get money for nothing and their chicks for free!
about time....All tech job need to be converted to contractors so they get paid by the job. Enough of this hourly cr-p milking the clock.
DTV wire techs? What?!! The newest models are completely wireless! They don't even run a cable from the dish to the DVR anymore.
Good riddance!
