We are all waiting til they surplus us because the longer we wait the more money they have to pay us severance wise. When they force move us out of the local area it's an automatic $75000 at least for most of us. Meanwhile pension/ lump sum amount goes up so why do them the favor and leave any sooner. We have all suffered this long.

The Grinch had a small heart this Christmas, no layoffs for bargained, a rarity.

This is the only post that needs to pinned forever on the layoff board. This person is 100% correct.

“ To all my ex-colleagues still at T, I wish you all a very happy holiday season.

And, if you're someone who was recently, or will soon be, laid off I say be very, very grateful.

It may not seem like it right now, but this is actually the best possible gift you could receive this holiday. Being laid off from T forces you out of complacency and off your ash and into an active mode. Clean up that resume, reach out to potential contacts and/or references. and start looking for your new path now.

I've gone through this and yeah, it was scary at first. But I soon found that there are a shocking number of opportunities out there if you just expand your options a bit. Don't just stick with tech, where layoffs seem to be infectious. Look at openings in education, healthcare, manufacturing, non-profit, entertainment, or something else. The skills most T employees have are 100% transferable to any other field.

The best part is that most other companies and industries aren't as poorly run, mismanaged, toxic, or soul-crushing as T. Finding a job elsewhere is often like finally getting sober, or finally getting out of a horrible relationship. And it's only afterwards that one can truly reflect on their time at T to understand just how unbelievably awful T truly is.

Believe me, in three or six months you'll look back and ask yourself why you waited until T stabbed you in the back before moving on.

Happy holidays and may your 2024 be totally free of T”

Every single employee that doesn’t leave on their own will be subject to surplus over the next 36 months. Those are facts folks. But keep your heads in the sand, it will catch you when you least expect it.

Unfortunately many AT&T folks do not have skills to go in the open market place. All telcos are laying off so anyone who uses ancient, proprietary provioning or billing software is out of luck. Anyone need USOC or TIRKS, ASCON, etc skillsets. Nope. Sorry to say but it is grim for many.

We can’t go a WORKDAY without speaking off layoffs.

Love all the time reporting and admin changes at the end of the year, during the Holidays, vacation and football. What sadist thought this up, HR couldn’t wait until the New Years was over. Isn’t wonderful how we got very little training or access until the cut over happens. Typical!

So much for relaxing, will probably be watching training videos, calling HR to answer questions, fix my reports PTO and time reports. It’s just what I wanted to do through Christmas!
