Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Assigned location

If you don’t go in to your assigned location now, you better start Jan 1. If you switched assigned locations manually, switch it back immediately. This is a PSA

Does anyone know of remote with workplace accommodation are also at risk or would this be considered a protected class?

MAC not AU

AU is you funding number. MAC is your location.

I’ve been remote for 15 years. But I’m 50 miles from Charlotte. Asked my managers manager to set me to in office to get me off the remote list. She did confirm to me that remotes are being targeted. I just got notice that my status is officially changed as on Jan 19th.

I’m assigned to CIC but was told I could go to Brevard in uptown as well. My team is in CIC but my managers are at Brevard.

I plan on mixing up my office every week. Assuming they don’t tell me otherwise.

Not necessarily 100s of miles apart. Some of the “Connections” spaces that you have to badge into earn you an in-office day, but don’t by themselves count as working at your assigned location. The one buy the convention center in Uptown Charlotte, for instance. Badging in there to grab some coffee or the salad bar counts just like an in-office day would, but if you spent the whole day in a work space there without going to your actual building/floor, it will show up as not your assigned location.

AU changes are very different than location (MAC) changes. Do people not understand the differences?

AU change gets approved all the way up to 4 down - needs to be approved by each manager along the way

I know because HR defaults everyone into the wrong AU and we have to change every one

Not a policy, it’s how the tools work…. As a manager, I can submit changes for my team and it will go through. I’ve had to change locations for two of my employees because they were slotted to the wrong building. However, if i submit a similar request for myself it gets routed to my manager, who must approve. This is no different than if my employees submitted the request initially - it gets routed to me for approval.

"@axr
Their manager still has to approve. No individual can change location without approval."

Where in the handbook or what policy says this?

I'm sure, but that will go away very very soon...unless people are squatting hundreds of miles from their assigned location. There won't be any buildings closer for long.

No way can you change your AU just because

the reason they are now reporting on assigned locations is because squatters are taking up spots reserved, needed, and paid for by other teams. There were a number of them in my office up until recently and now they are all gone.

@huv+1q3UKKkl Just because it’s changed there or by a manager doesn’t mean it’s approved by the bank. Administration has been regularly reviewing and notifying manager to switch it back to where it should be. And even if they haven’t yet, won’t matter come next year as it will require the manager to document it as a negative against the employee.

I don't know why they are worried about people badging in to unassigned locations. It's an incredibly temporary "problem", if it's a problem at all. Very soon we won't have multiple locations anywhere near each other. So who cares? The Hudson Yards clowns never miss an opportunity to be A holes. Ever.

managers can easily change a location of someone. just go into workday and change the AU. now whether they should is a different story. some groups like risk have a whole form and process for requesting

WF is clamping down on staff regularly working in unassigned locations. Everyone should have been notified already. An email went out for those of us in CLT, and you will be written up.

A manager can’t just switch you over to a different location for the most part. There’s a location strategy to assign specific groups to certain locations that’s coming from the top. As of now, as long as you’re meeting the 3 days you’re good in most groups but who knows how long that’ll last.

The current RTO report shows a triangle if someone badges into a different location. It's no big deal.

If the bank decides to strictly enforce assigned location, your manager will tell you. There's no 'gotcha' here.

If your official location is not a major hub, then that might be something to consider. You don't want to get swept up in a layoff dragnet just because you set your location to a satellite office instead a main campus.
